
Commercial Real Estate Lending Assistant Coordinator

Overview
The responsibilities of this position include coordinating commercial real estate lending activities and ensuring compliance with policies while supporting portfolio management. It serves as a technical resource for resolving compliance issues, exceptions, and documentation challenges, and oversees all aspects of the lending process—including loan reviews, renewals, modifications, and covenant tracking. The role also includes reviewing loan documentation, preparing reports, assisting Relationship Managers with loan packages and deposit services, and providing training and guidance to lending assistants and associates.
Responsibilities
Direct and advise customers (internal & external) on procedures relating to departmental loan operations.
Collaborate with leadership and supervision for maintenance of department commercial credit files and commercial real estate loan documentation review supporting compliance with bank policies and procedures.
Provide departmental loan reports, past due reports and exception reports to Commercial Real Estate Managers and review reports taking proactive measures to resolve and clear past dues and exceptions.
Conduct training, mentoring and support for Commercial Real Estate Lending Assistant I, II (CRELA) as well as Relationship Manager Associates or Development Associates.
Coordinate with portfolio management for preparation of loan packages and conduct special projects as requested.
Train CRMA in policies and procedures and assist Relationship Managers in day‑to‑day activities of the loan department, prepare loan packages, conduct special projects as requested and assist in portfolio management including appraisal orders, construction draw review and processing, and tracking project completion.
Assist Relationship Managers in managing the deposit relationship and related services including wires, account set up, NSF management, approvals, signatures, etc.
Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED
6 years of progressive experience as a Commercial Real Estate Lending Assistant I & II or equivalent
Knowledge of advanced banking and commercial real estate lending procedures and practices
Familiarity with legal concepts involving commercial real estate lending and knowledge of when and whom to forward escalated concerns
Accounting and mathematical aptitude
Functional understanding of UCCs, Deeds of Trust, Letters of Credit, Derivative Products and Sweep Accounts
Due to the critical element of customer exposure, the qualified associate must demonstrate excellent customer service ability in addition to each of the following:
Excellent interpersonal skills
Excellent organizational skills with demonstrable ability to effectively multitask
Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) while demonstrating ability to effectively use lending terminology
Excellent time management skills
Proficient in Microsoft Products including Word, Excel and other bank systems
Associate’s degree in a business-related field or equivalent work experience preferred
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions: Must be able to sit for long periods of time and use computer keyboard and/or mouse, while viewing computer screens.
