Position Summary
The Pump Panel Mechanical Designer will utilize CAD and SolidWorks software to aid in the design, development, and sustainment of municipal fire apparatus pump panels. They will closely coordinate with purchasing, production leadership, engineering, and post sales to ensure vehicles are built to meet customer and industry requirements.
Essential Functions
Design pump panels on computer using SolidWorks.
Read and interpret specifications to create panel layouts.
Physically take measurements of trucks to ensure panel fits.
Send completed designs to metal fabrication for production.
Create and maintain inventory models for future reuse.
Work with Project Managers to resolve issues and obtain customer approval.
Perform other duties and responsibilities as required by management to meet the needs of the organization and our members.
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED required.
Associate’s degree in mechanical drafting or design preferred.
Experience using CAD and SolidWorks software required.
Experience with PDM preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA’s)
Knowledge:
Ability to read and interpret scientific and technical documents.
Skills:
Ability to actively participate in discussions by listening and asking relevant questions.
Ability to follow written and verbal directions.
Basic math functions and accounting abilities with a high aptitude for accuracy.
Ability to work within SolidWorks, CAD, and PDM.
Intermediate PC functions in Microsoft Office, including spreadsheets and formulas.
Strong attention to detail.
Ability to understand and apply engineering development processes.
Ability to prioritize work and multitask while meeting deadlines.
Ability to work with minimal supervision in a team environment.
Ability to understand and follow all safety policies.
