Position Summary
This DMV Customer Service Representative position is located at the Oshkosh Customer Service Center and provides face‑to‑face customer support on driver licensing and vehicle registration. The role includes issuing driver’s licenses, ID cards, instruction permits, motor vehicle registrations, vehicle titles, and license plates, determining and collecting appropriate fees, and working with customers who need an ID for voting purposes. In addition to in‑person work, the role performs online processing of other types of work and may field questions from the public over the phone.
Salary Information
This position is in schedule‑range 02‑11. Starting pay is $22.31 per hour, with a $1.40 per hour increase after one year of satisfactory performance. Reclassification to the advanced level typically occurs after 18 months of service, with a minimum pay of $26.08 per hour. Saturday hours may be required; an additional $0.80 per hour is awarded for all Saturday hours. A 12‑month probationary period is required. Pay for current state employees will be determined in accordance with the current State Compensation Plan.

Candidates may be subject to a comprehensive criminal background check, which may include FBI fingerprinting. Possession of a valid driver’s license or obtaining one within six months of hire will be required for positions that train on or perform driver‑license examining. Some duties may involve regular travel to other cities to provide motor vehicle services to the public or occasional travel to local public or technical schools.
Qualifications
Identifying and resolving problems for one or more customers in a face‑to‑face customer service role.
Reading and interpreting laws, regulations, policies, procedures, or other complex documents.
Using computers and one or more software programs to complete customer transactions.
Multi‑tasking while ensuring accuracy within their work.
Working in a role in which the primary duties are customer service.
Performing cash handling transactions.
