Overview Employee Relations Specialists provide guidance to management and employees on performance concerns, conflict resolution, organizational changes, HR policies, and employment laws to promote a fair and equitable work environment.

Responsibilities

Provide guidance to management and employees on performance concerns, conflict resolution, organizational changes, HR policies, and employment laws to promote a fair and equitable work environment.

Assess and address employee engagement, conduct manager education, and provide employee and manager counseling.

Investigate workplace issues thoroughly and recommend appropriate disciplinary actions to minimize legal risk.

Create detailed documentation of relevant issues ensuring legal defensibility.

Resolve issues related to discipline, performance, attendance, personnel actions, and employment policies/procedures.

Apply HR theories, principles, and practices; research and evaluate employment practices for recommendations.

Analyze employee data to produce metrics and provide insights for internal clients.

Maintain knowledge of regulatory requirements and legislative changes impacting employment law.

Review policies, procedures, and performance appraisals for fairness and legal compliance.

Coordinate with legal counsel on litigation cases and documentation.

Represent client in unemployment hearings and appeals as needed.

Assist with internal and external communications related to Employee Relations.

Lead or support projects and initiatives within the organization.

Research, review, and analyze reports to inform decision‑making.

Participate in training initiatives for new employee relations team members.

Requirements

Effective knowledge of local, state, and federal employment regulations.

Understanding of leave and disability laws including FMLA, ADA, HIPAA, and related regulations.

Experience managing multiple priorities independently and within teams.

Ability to maintain confidentiality and demonstrate integrity.

Basic knowledge of HR policies, functions, and organizational objectives.

Knowledge of the organization’s functions and operations.

PHR/SHRM‑CP or SPHR/SHRM‑SCP certification (desired).

Strong research, analytical, and problem‑solving skills.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Skill in influencing, negotiating, and reaching positive outcomes.

Ability to present findings clearly and concisely.

Strong organizational and time‑management skills.

Ability to build relationships with internal and external contacts.

Proficiency with PC applications and adaptability to new technologies.

Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience).
