
Employee Relations Specialist

Overview
The Employee Relations Specialist provides frontline HR support to operations and professional services leaders, ensuring fair and consistent treatment of employees while maintaining compliance with employment laws and company policies. Reporting to the Sr. Director, Human Resources, this role manages workplace investigations, provides guidance on performance and conduct matters, and partners closely with HR leadership and the HRBP team to mitigate risk and foster an equitable, productive work environment.
This is a hybrid remote role, offering a flexible work arrangement out of our Raleigh, NC office, with an in‑office requirement of two days per week.
You Will
Manage and conduct investigations into employee concerns, including misconduct, policy violations, and workplace issues, ensuring fair, consistent, and timely resolution.
Maintain accurate, thorough, and confidential documentation of all cases, findings, and outcomes.
Partner with legal counsel as appropriate to ensure compliance and mitigate organizational risk.
Collaborate with HRBPs and field leadership to provide guidance on conflict resolution, employee concerns, and policy interpretation.
Serve as a neutral, trusted resource for employees, fostering open communication and effective issue resolution.
Support and guide corrective action processes and performance improvement plans.
Ensure consistent application of company policies and adherence to employment laws (e.g., FLSA, FMLA, ADA, Title VII).
Contribute to the development, enhancement, and communication of policies in alignment with legal requirements and organizational culture.
Partner with HRBPs to identify trends, recommend proactive solutions, and mitigate future employee relations concerns.
Track and analyze employee relations data, identifying trends and opportunities for improvement.
Prepare reports and provide insights to HR leadership to inform decision‑making and strategy.
Recommend and support initiatives aimed at reducing employee relations issues and improving overall engagement.
Design and deliver training for managers and employees on key employee relations topics, including respectful workplace practices, performance documentation, and harassment prevention.
Support broader HR initiatives such as culture‑building programs and leadership development efforts.
About You
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field required; advanced degree preferred.
3–5 years of experience in employee relations or HR generalist roles, including direct experience conducting workplace investigations.
Professional certification such as SHRM‑CP, SHRM‑SCP, PHR, or SPHR preferred.
Strong working knowledge of employment laws and HR best practices.
Excellent communication, conflict resolution, and documentation skills.
Demonstrated emotional intelligence with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential matters with discretion.
Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with a focus on fairness, consistency, and sound judgment.
