
Automation Lead - Large Form Factor Manufacturing (US Region)

Jabil is expanding! We are looking for a regional Large Form Factor Manufacturing Automation Lead (US Region) to support new and existing sites throughout the US. This role will sit at one of our major sites in the US and travel up to 75% domestically.
How will you make an impact?
Lead the development and implementation of automation solutions for large form factor manufacturing processes across Jabil’s US facilities, driving efficiency, quality, and cost reduction.
What will you do?
Define and execute automation strategies and roadmaps for large-scale manufacturing operations, aligning with corporate objectives and industry best practices.
Lead the design, development, and deployment of robotic systems, automated guided vehicles (AGVs), automated material handling systems, and other advanced automation technologies.
Manage cross-functional project teams, including engineers, technicians, and external vendors, to deliver automation projects on time and within budget.
Conduct feasibility studies, ROI analyses, and risk assessments for proposed automation initiatives.
Develop and implement standardized automation processes, documentation, and training programs across multiple sites.
Collaborate with production, quality, and engineering teams to identify automation opportunities and optimize existing processes.
Stay abreast of emerging automation technologies and industry trends, evaluating their potential application within Jabil.
Ensure compliance with safety regulations, quality standards, and environmental guidelines in all automation deployments.
Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior automation engineers and technicians.
Manage vendor relationships and negotiate contracts for automation equipment and services.
How will you get here?
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, or Automation preferred) or a related technical field. Master’s degree a plus.
Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma certification preferred.
Experience:
8+ years of progressive experience in automation engineering, with at least 5 years in a leadership role within a manufacturing environment.
Proven experience with large form factor manufacturing processes (e.g., automotive, aerospace, heavy machinery, large electronics assembly).
Demonstrated expertise in designing, implementing, and troubleshooting complex automated systems, including robotics (e.g., FANUC, ABB, KUKA), PLCs (e.g., Siemens, Rockwell), SCADA systems, and industrial communication protocols.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
Strong project management skills with a track record of successfully delivering large-scale automation projects.
Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and simulation tools.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Strong communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with diverse teams and stakeholders.
Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks) for layout and system design preferred.
Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
Ability to travel frequently within the assigned region to support various Jabil sites (up to 75%). When not traveling, work location is required on-site at the home-site location.
