AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We support all AWS data centers and the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that keep our customers’ cloud running. Global Engineering Strategy
The Global Engineering Strategy team (GES) is looking for a results‑oriented, inventive senior data center engineer to drive the development, implementation, and delivery of enterprise data center strategies through AWS infrastructure builds that meet strict quality and performance levels worldwide. Key Responsibilities
Collaborate with internal stakeholders during due diligence to oversee the process and ensure design requirements are considered. Gather data to ensure prerequisites for the start of the design phase are met. Lead the pre‑design phase and ensure design‑ready deliverables are handed over to the design team. Analyze major intercepts’ impact on site plans and strategy. Work with the Energy Team and International Utilities to understand HV/MV substation design and assess risk and impacts on our builds. Provide engineering design decisions to the planning team for strategic planning and region selection. Collaborate with other disciplines such as mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, and architecture to assess product deployment in each region. Manage concurrent projects in multiple geographical regions. Escalate issues as required and communicate clearly and effectively at the appropriate level with people from a wide range of technical abilities and backgrounds. Travel will occasionally be necessary but shouldn’t be more than 25%. International support will be part of the job. Traits of Global Strategy Engineers

6+ years of data center design, construction, operations, or facility maintenance experience. 6+ years of industrial or commercial engineering in mission‑critical facilities such as data centers, power generation, or oil and gas facilities. Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field. Knowledge of critical data center mechanical and electrical equipment. Experience researching new designs, technologies, and construction methods of data center equipment and facilities. Preferred Qualifications
Professional Engineering or Architectural License. Knowledge of building codes and regulations for your region. Experience carrying design concepts from exploration through development to deployment or mass production. Experience reading, interpreting, and creating construction drawings, specifications, and submittal documents. EEO Statement
