Job Summary
We are seeking a Field Service Representative to join our team. In this role, you will provide technical support and guidance to our clients within the water treatment industry, resolve complex technical issues, ensure customer satisfaction, and contribute to the success of our field sales and service team.
Essential Job Responsibilities
Work onsite at customer locations to provide routine, day‑to‑day service, determine water treatment programs are operating within optimal ranges, and document findings in detailed reports.
Participate in delivery, installation, commissioning and repair of systems at customer sites.
Assist with chemical feed management.
Work with Account Manager to manage and place orders, track inventory and usage of product at each site, and serve as the general face of Apex to the assigned customer base.
Maintain an organized approach to daily work, ensuring tasks are prioritized and completed efficiently.
Send service reports to Account Manager within 24 hours of completion of service visit for each site visited.
Project a professional image of the Company through positive attitude and punctual, reliable attendance.
Complete initial and ongoing technical training related to boiler and cooling tower systems through AWT modules and Apex Academy resources.
Maintain professional and technical knowledge to provide sound water treatment recommendations to customers.
Keep vehicle in good operating condition and keep up with recommended maintenance as needed.
Local/regional travel is expected and ongoing, including up to 10% overnight travel.
Adhere to and support all safety policies and guidelines.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent.
Mechanical and technical aptitude.
Hands‑on experience in industrial/commercial mechanical trades (e.g., HVAC, plumbing, electrical, welding, facility maintenance, or related trade).
Ability and willingness to use a hands‑on approach to troubleshoot equipment issues and perform technical repairs, such as pump rebuilds.
Strong communication and customer service skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non‑technical clients and stakeholders.
Valid driver’s license.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
Ability and willingness to physically provide service at customer facilities within a wide range of environments, including hot, loud industrial facilities as well as outdoor environments that may include exposure to sun, rain, wind, or other weather conditions.
Ability to pass a respirator fit test and wear a half‑or full‑face respirator.
Commitment to supporting customers, which may include occasional availability after standard business hours (typically via phone) for urgent needs.
Ability and willingness to be away from home for overnight travel—up to three (3) nights/month.
Preferred Qualifications
Past work experience in technical service in industrial water treatment or specialty chemicals industry, including knowledge of water treatment systems such as filtration, disinfection and chemical dosing.
Working knowledge of cooling tower systems, steam generation, and chilled/hot/process water closed‑loop systems.
Past experience operating and supporting reverse osmosis and other equipment systems.
Familiarity with water treatment industry regulations and standards.
Advanced certifications or training in water treatment technologies.
Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or other relevant field of study.
