Position Summary Polishers are dynamic hospitality and maintenance professionals responsible for ensuring that each piece of glassware, flatware, and plate ware is inspected for flaws and polished to a shine before re-entering service. Polishers work with all members of the Back of House and Front of House Service teams to ensure a smooth continuation of service.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Receive all clean glassware, flatware, plate ware, and other service equipment from the Porters in the dish pit and inspect for flaws before polishing.

Remove cracked or defective items from service and inform management.

Polish all clean glassware, flatware, plate ware, and other service equipment to a perfect shine.

Ensure no watermarks, stains, lint, or other debris remain on product. Regularly polish and maintain kitchen pots and pans using metal polish.

Maintain cleanliness and appearance of the dish pit area at all times. Daily cleaning of ice machines, coffee station, water station, and refrigerators.

Complete all assigned side work related to setup and breakdown of the dish pit area. Maintain all tools of the position including specialty glass polishing cloths.

Report to each scheduled shift on time, in uniform, and ready to work.

Responsible for training new employees as assigned.

Assist other stations or areas of the restaurant when requested by management.

Qualifications

Must be able to read, speak, understand, and follow written directions and verbal instructions in English. (Note: Spanish language support may be available.)

Must be reachable by email and able to communicate via phone.

Communicates information effectively and efficiently.

Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

Positive, results-oriented, team-player mentality.

Ability to perform job duties under pressure in a high-paced environment.

Knowledge of workplace safety procedures and local Department of Health standards.

Food Handler’s Certification or the ability to obtain in accordance with applicable regulations and/or Company policy.

Able to work a flexible schedule (weekends, nights, and holidays); reasonable accommodations may be provided for sincerely held religious beliefs.

Good oral communication skills.

Ability to execute recipes and service in adherence with company policy.

Occasionally crouch and climb.

Handle heavy equipment and machinery.

New York Pay Range: $17 USD - $19 USD
