Job Summary
Special Agent – Vice Narcotics Unit, State Law Enforcement Division (SLED).

The specialist will investigate and enforce laws related to possession, distribution, manufacturing, and trafficking of illegal drugs, focusing on disrupting drug trafficking organizations.

Responsibilities

Serve as a Special Agent in SLED's Narcotics Unit, participating in the detection of crime and enforcement of criminal laws.

Plan and conduct complete investigations of complex cases, supporting local law enforcement.

Gather and develop material facts, interview or interrogate suspects, victims and witnesses, examine records, collect evidence, and establish contacts with law enforcement and the public.

Make arrests, participate in raids, searches, seizures, obtain warrants and court orders, conduct surveillance, and manage informants and confidential sources.

Prepare written statements, reports, and briefing materials for internal and external stakeholders, and maintain documentation of confidential informants.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.

Ability to obtain and maintain certification as a Class I Law Enforcement Officer by the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy.

Position requires overnight travel and 24‑hour emergency call capability.

Residency or willingness to relocate to designated counties in South Carolina.

Capability to perform all physical requirements of a certified Class I LEO, including apprehensions, investigations, crowd control, emergency response, and prolonged duty periods.

Preferred Qualifications

Class I Law Enforcement Certification by the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy.

Three (3) years of law enforcement investigative experience.
