IMEG is hiring a Structural Designer in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to support structural engineering analysis, design, and implementation oversight for buildings and other structures. In this role, you will work closely with experienced engineers and consultants to help deliver engineering solutions and advice that drive positive client outcomes. You’ll also support projects within budget and collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet project goals and client expectations.
Principal Responsibilities
Assist with the design and analysis of structural systems using a variety of building materials
Create detailed designs, specifications, and calculations using engineering software and tools in accordance with code requirements and IMEG standards
Interact with clients to understand project needs, gather requirements, and communicate technical information effectively
Build and maintain client relationships through professional communication
Support project execution by assisting with planning and scheduling tasks to meet deadlines and objectives
Document design decisions and client instructions while monitoring project design progress
Analyze low- to medium-complexity engineering tasks and help develop practical, efficient solutions with senior engineers and consultants
Participate in IMEG quality control processes to ensure designs meet IMEG quality standards, industry standards, and client requirements
Stay current on structural engineering trends, emerging technologies, and best practices while contributing to research, development, and innovation efforts
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including engineers, architects, and project managers, while prioritizing safety and maintaining ethical, professional conduct
Required Qualifications And Skills
Associates degree, or certificate, in Building Information Modeling (BIM) or Engineering preferred
3 years of experience minimum required, 4 preferred, in the building design consulting or construction industry
Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and concepts involved in the production of technical plans and specifications
Strong technical and analytical skills including knowledge of principles in mechanics and materials, load paths, design techniques, design standards including steel, concrete, wood, masonry, and concepts involved in structural systems of buildings and structures
Knowledge of industry standard engineering software and tools including structural engineering design and analysis software
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
Eagerness to learn and adapt to new challenges
Basic knowledge in the use of BIM software
Proficient with MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook
Ability to travel up to 5% with occasional overnight stays
