
Personal Banker (Float) - Metro Region / West Milford (Full-Time)

Provident Bank is seeking a Personal Banker (Float) in the Metro Region, primarily serving the branches in West Milford, Wanaque, and Bloomingdale. The role involves establishing relationships with customers and prospective customers to understand, identify, and satisfy financial needs and to provide a positive customer experience while conducting transactions during every branch interaction.
Overview
The Personal Banker position is dynamic and involves both transaction and sales/service duties. Responsibilities may vary day to day based on branch needs. The role may require travel to other branches within the Metro Region as needed.
Key Responsibilities
Sales
Meet sales referrals and cross-sell goals by understanding the features and benefits of all products and services to satisfy customer needs.
Promote bank products and refer or resolve customer inquiries concerning accounts or other banking services.
Actively refer customers for commercial products or services to the branch manager, market manager, or appropriate business partner.
Exceed customer expectations through active engagement and commitment to servicing and building relationships.
Advance the Bank's Corporate Sales Program through needs assessments, developing new relationships, expanding existing ones, and managing a book of business.
Service
Identify opportunities with customers and prospective customers through lobby management.
Assist customers with digital technologies and provide referrals to other lines of business.
Maintain cost efficiency to achieve branch goals; ensure quality of customer service and adherence to sales and brand standards.
Responsible for sales and service delivery.
Provide a positive customer service experience.
Operations
Ensure operational and financial safety and compliance with Bank policies and applicable laws and regulations.
Use lobby management to control and mitigate risk.
Verify customer identity according to guidelines and adhere to all compliance procedures.
Assist branch management with branch operations as needed.
Process transactions including check cashing, withdrawals, deposits, and loan payments.
Prepare Currency Transaction Reports (CTR) and Suspicious Activity Forms (SAF) as required.
Assist in training other branch employees and provide support to the contact center during high call volumes.
Handle customer inquiries by telephone and provide access to safe deposit boxes.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or GED
Minimum of 6 months of sales and service experience in a customer-facing retail environment
Strong interpersonal, listening, written, and verbal communication skills
Ability to work a flexible schedule based on business needs
Professional demeanor with customers and coworkers
Strong math and analytical skills
Understanding and adherence to safety and security practices
Proven relationship-building skills
Ability to establish strong connections with customers through consultative conversations and presentations of sales opportunities
Strong customer service/advocacy skills
Strong organizational and time-management skills
Proficiency with computers and Microsoft Office; ability to quickly learn new programs
Must register as a Mortgage Loan Originator (NMLS) prior to handling mortgage-related activities
Preferred Qualifications
Prior retail banking experience
Life and Health licenses to support investment program
Working Conditions
Retail banking branch environment. Overtime may be required. Travel to other locations/branches as needed. Flexibility to adapt to new locations and reassignment.
Lifting 5 to 25 lbs (coins)
Prolonged sitting/standing
Occasional bending or stooping
Work is performed in a normal office environment with moderate noise. The role may involve travel to customer and property locations.
