Job Description
Responsible for the efficient and effective collection of plasma from donors by performing venipuncture, monitoring the pheresis process and following Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

Performs all aspects of the pheresis procedure and plasma collection, including donor set‑up, donor monitoring and donor disconnect.

Performs venipuncture on donors to begin the pheresis process in compliance with SOPs and FDA guidelines.

Evaluates vein performance, identifies problems, makes corrections and ensures a positive donation experience.

Educates new donors on therapeutic products, screening process, policies, nutrition and answers questions professionally.

Maintains alertness to donor reactions, assists or notifies staff as needed.

Uses a Personal Digital Assistant (PDA) to record incidents such as machine alerts, volume variances and adverse events.

Performs calibrations and verifies maintenance as outlined in SOPs; resolves complex equipment alarms or donor issues.

Troubleshoots equipment failures, documents incidents and removes or replaces equipment as required.

Monitors donor flow on the donor floor and alerts the Group Leader or Supervisor of issues.

Collects arm or whole‑blood samples from donors for testing.

Ensures accurate recording of donor data in the electronic donor information management system per SOPs.

Understands policies related to hyper‑immune programs if applicable.

Maintains a clean and efficient work environment, ensuring supplies and forms are available and follows HSE and OSHA policies.

Maintains confidentiality of personnel, donor, and center information.

May be cross‑trained in other areas to meet business needs.

Bilingual skills may be required at the discretion of the organization.

Performs other job‑related duties as assigned.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent required.

Experience

Internal CSL employees: successfully completed CSL Plasma DST training.

External candidates: minimum 6 months of experience as a phlebotomist; one year preferred.

Minimum twelve months of experience in a medical or health‑care environment preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Working Conditions

Ability to complete routine forms and oral communications.

Ability to understand, remember and apply oral and/or written instructions.

Must be able to see, speak with customers and observe equipment operation.

Occasionally stand and walk up to 100% of the time.

Reach, bend, kneel and have high manual dexterity.

Occasionally lift and carry up to 25 pounds.

Fast‑paced environment with frequent interruptions.

Frequently exposed to hazardous chemicals, extreme temperatures and blood‑borne pathogens.

Required to wear Personal Protective Equipment while performing specific tasks or in certain areas.

Required to work overtime and extended hours to support center operational needs.
