POSITION: SENIOR PHLEBOTOMIST
Under the general supervision of the Phlebotomy Coordinator, the Sr. Phlebotomist is responsible for performing venipunctures, capillary blood specimen collections, point of care testing (POCT), and related procedures in accordance with hospital and Laboratory Services Department policies and procedures. Under the guidance of the Phlebotomy Coordinator, the Sr. Phlebotomist will assist in training and guiding phlebotomy students and new employees. These responsibilities support the internal functioning of the department and its integration into the Northwest Texas Healthcare System. The Sr. Phlebotomist supports an organizational culture of Service Excellence and practices the Service Excellence standards with all customer groups.
Job Duties/Responsibilities
Practice the profession of phlebotomy in assigned areas according to accepted standards of practice as outlined by CAP, CLIA ’88, Joint Commission, and other regulatory agencies, and in accordance with the organization, department, and laboratory Medical Director policies and procedures. Participate in and support processes to measure, assess, and improve performance in areas of assigned responsibility. Perform phlebotomy and waived testing procedures in the laboratory, clinics, outreach facilities, health fairs, and home-bound patient locations to optimize pre-analytical, analytical, and post-analytical procedures.

Qualifications
Education, Training, Experience and Licenses/Registrations Required:
Minimum Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Successful completion of a phlebotomy program is preferred; two years of college education preferred.
Minimum Work Experience: Three years of full-time experience.
Certifications: Sr. Phlebotomist - Certificate of completion from phlebotomy program preferred; PBT(ASCP) required.
BLS certification upon hire and maintained throughout.
