
Sr. Social Media Producer

CBS News is seeking a smart and innovative Senior Social Media Producer with a passion for news to join our team and help us optimize the biggest stories of the day for social platforms.
The senior social media producer will be tasked with:
Working with CBS News talent, including O&O and affiliates, to script, record and produce original social content
Acting as one of the leaders on the team, advising social media producers on story priorities, production techniques and best practices, in day-to-day coverage, breaking news situations and during special events.
Appearing on screen in original social videos and/or recording track for voiceovers.
Producing and editing original video packages for CBS News’ various social media channels and the CBS News Streaming Network.
Developing strategy for social channels and the optimization of show content for social platforms.
Utilizing analytics to inform strategy and experimentation.
Producing bespoke social content with talent, either as standalone social pieces or to preview segments on the show.
Generating innovative and creative ideas for ways to drive tune-in and grow audience on social.
Senior producing other producers’ video packages and scripts.
Performing the role of a senior producer on original production shoots in the field
Providing supervisory coverage when necessary.
Composing social headlines, articles and share language that are both highly shareable and consistent with the CBS News brand.
Backfilling other team members as needed.
Candidate qualifications
6 to 8 years of social media or newsroom experience
Deep familiarity with social media platforms, audiences and best practices
The ability to write about a variety of topics in a strong, yet unbiased way
Strong writing skills with demonstrated portfolio of published work
Strong producing and editing skills
Ability to quickly and exactly subtitle video for social, using both editing platforms and the text tools within TikTok and Instagram
Ability to work well with others under tight deadlines
Degree in journalism, communications or related
The schedule for this shift will be Monday-Friday from 4 p.m. to 12 a.m. ET.
Hiring Salary Range: $112,000.00 – 112,000.00.
The hiring salary range for this position applies to New York, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other geographies. Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, tuition assistance program and PTO or, if applicable, as otherwise dictated by the appropriate Collective Bargaining Agreement.
