Institutional & Specialty Sales Consultant, Cardiology – St. Louis West
Purpose
The Institutional and Specialty Sales (ISS) team will lead and drive launch activities for indications within the CVR portfolio. Responsibilities include driving demand, clinical education, and sales by developing, coordinating, and implementing a strategic business plan for priority Hospitals, Health Systems, Cardiologists, and Nephrologists in the institutional and community settings. The ISS reports to the CVR Area General Manager and works closely with Marketing, Market Access, Patient Services, and other internal partners to achieve US Pharma outcomes.
Coverage
The position covers the St. Louis metro area, St. Charles, St. Peters, N. County, S. County, Arnold, and Festus. It is Missouri‑only and requires residence within the territory. Travel may be up to 50% within the territory.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities
Drive clinical demand, education, and sales; build deep understanding of disease state, unmet needs, and treatment options, and educate healthcare professionals and stakeholders on the unique benefits of assigned products.
Build institutional advocacy to drive formulary/pathway/protocol adoption of cardiovascular‑renal brand(s) for appropriate pull‑through of approved products.
Develop, co‑create with internal and external stakeholders, and implement strategic business plans for identified top strategic Institutions.
Demonstrate expertise in disease state, marketplace, competitors, industry, and cross‑functional activities while applying analytical rigor to anticipate business opportunities and challenges.
Build key business relationships with prioritized customers and stakeholders (e.g., C & D Suite, Head of Pharmacy, Head of Quality), Cardiologists, and Nephrologists.
Manage P&T committee processes at priority Institutions.
Collaborate with cross‑functional teams and the Area Customer Squads to develop and execute strategic partnerships.
Provide support to Area General Managers in strategic projects as needed.
Leverage emerging technologies to enhance performance and continuously improve proficiency.
Understand and comply with pharmaceutical industry guidelines and regulations, applying high ethical standards in day‑to‑day work.
Who You Are
We seek an incumbent with strong communication skills, sales experience, and a deep understanding of cardiovascular and/or renal therapeutic areas.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or 10 years of relevant sales experience in competitive landscapes.
Deep expertise in cardiovascular and/or renal therapeutic areas.
Experience launching new products and product indications.
Excellent facilitation and written/ verbal communication skills.
Ability to work under pressure and meet short deadlines.
Compliance with customer credentialing and safety requirements (e.g., vaccinations, trainings).
Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
Preferred Qualifications
Advanced degree in Life Sciences, Pharmacy, or a business‑related field.
5 years of successful pharmaceutical/biotech/medical sales experience in competitive landscapes.
Experience selling in Institutional and clinic settings and navigating the P&T committee process.
Experience establishing and pulling‑through inpatient to outpatient protocols.
Salary and Benefits
Employees can expect a salary between $120,960 and $181,440. Additional compensation may include a bonus or commission. Benefits include health care, vision, dental, retirement, PTO, and sick leave. This role is eligible for an enhanced employee referral bonus.
