Visual Product Designer
Soul Seated, San Jose, CA, United States
Overview
Soul Seated Journey is a nonprofit supporting Gen Z emerging adults (especially BIPOC and underrepresented groups) through evidence-informed, spiritually grounded experiences that foster emotional clarity, belonging, and compassionate action. As we prepare for our Alpha Proof of Concept in-person program, we’re building a thoughtful, human-centered digital presence that feels alive, relational, and supportive to complement program learnings and experience.
The Role & The Team
As our Visual Product Designer, you will be a key member of the
Transformative Design team , responsible for delivering product UX/UI with exceptionally polished visual design. Your work will ensure that our technology serves as an enabler for human connection, moving users from isolation to a sense of shared humanity.
What You’ll Do
In this role, you’ll work directly with our Design team on two critical touchpoints:
Member Mobile App:
You will design the digital sanctuary for our emerging adult members. This involves crafting intuitive UX/UI for features such as multimedia content, asynchronous messaging, progress tracking, video calls, and more.
Staff Web Tools:
You will design the web-based management portal for our staff. This includes creating fluid interfaces for managing caseloads, scheduling video calls, uploading/organizing multimedia content, and more.
Your work will be directly anchored in our Transformative Design principles, creating interfaces that ensure our members feel safe, in control, and supported. Your designs will be fun, accessible, fluid, and seamless—prioritizing clarity over cleverness to reduce cognitive load. Ultimately, you will design technology that serves as an enabler for human connection, focus, and perspective, moving users from isolation to a sense of shared humanity.
What We’re Looking For
Portfolio over pedigree:
We value ability over years of experience, but your portfolio must include both a mobile app and web-based product that has shipped to customers.
Design excellence:
You possess strong product UX/UI skills combined with a highly polished, engaging visual design aesthetic.
Elevates the team:
You have experience working with a team, are familiar with typical Design team rituals, and can help elevate the team’s work through constructive critique and feedback.
What Makes You Right for This
Design for human connection:
You seek to foster presence, relationship, and trust with your work.
Growth through presence:
You’re committed to continual growth through reflection, humility, and presence.
Dignity, respect and autonomy:
You want your work to create conditions where people feel safe to discover, choose, and grow, rather than manipulate behavior through gamification or dark patterns.
Cultural humility:
You’re passionate about embedding trauma-informed and culturally humble design principles into your work.
Early stage thriving:
You’re excited about building new products and services from the ground up, and aren\'t afraid of working in environments where not every question has an answer yet.

Employment Type:
