Company is seeking a sales and business development representative with a technical or engineering background to enhance current territory coverage in Ohio and Kentucky.

Responsibilities

Increase revenue by initiative-taking sales activities; keep and expand existing accounts; acquire new accounts.

Promote and sell the features and benefits of products and services offered by the company through presentation and demonstration efforts using applicable demo equipment, remote resources, and manufacturer sales support.

Use specifications to promote and expand traffic signal product sales and expand on related product, software, and services sales.

Maintain regular customer contact and schedule visits to prioritize on site, in person field interaction to build strong relationships in the territory.

Call on both existing and new prospective customers. Develop new customer relationships.

Support and assist customers through consultative and applied engineering problem solving that utilizes products and services offered by the company.

Work with our current technical, sales, and support staff and manufacturer’s sales and technical representatives.

Answer and respond to customer, vendor, and coworker calls and emails.

Field customer and consultant requests for estimates, bids, price quotes, and specifications. Follow up with customers and consultants on opportunities.

Assist with marketing campaigns and training sessions.

Assist with project development and project management.

Attend customer meetings and occasional manufacturer’s sales and technical meetings.

Attend local/regional association meetings, trade shows, and conferences.

Maintain positive communications. Be respectful of the customers’ time knowing when to end a meeting or a call but also allow the customer the time they need to address any product or service interests, requests, or concerns.

Educational Knowledge and abilities

Established, confirmed, and documented sales experience.

Although not a requirement, experience in the transportation, traffic management, or ITS industry or similar industry is preferred.

Technical sales or field engineering experience in the traffic industry would be beneficial.

Possess or work to acquire IMSA Traffic Signals Level I and Level II certifications (Provided by the Company).

Consultative selling expertise with ability to present and negotiate effectively.

Strong interpersonal communication including both written and verbal ability and skill.

Self-motivated to close business opportunities with independent initiative for positive results and sustained growth and improvement.

Ability to work independently with regular travel.

Work Area and Operation

The position is field based and requires regular and repeated travel in the Ohio and Kentucky region with occasional domestic travel for vendor meetings.

The primary territory focus will be in Ohio to enhance existing coverage currently serviced by an experienced outside representative.

Occasional lifting of up to 30 pounds.

Required to sit, converse, stand, and walk while working and conducting customer field visits and taking part in training sessions and trade meetings.
