
Sr. Financial Business Analyst – Grocery, Cust Exp & Marketing

Overview
This position drives information-based decision making by providing analysis, direction, consultation, planning, performance measurement and process improvement support to Retail Scheduling & Engineering (responsible for defining and governing retail labor strategy by forecasting demand, maintaining labor standards and system configuration) and cross-functional strategic initiative teams, typically involving Retail Business Unit (RBU) and/or Retail leadership. Within the department, the Financial Business Analyst serves as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) with broad knowledge in the field of financial analysis, project improvement and the development and deployment of analytical technology solutions.
Responsibilities
Providing ad hoc analysis used in decision making, including the development of new benchmarking measurement processes, reports, scorecards and proforma P&Ls
Developing analytical solutions through the use of technology to streamline and reinvent existing reports, tools and processes, and to create new reports, tools or models to deliver business insights
Enhancing the production, delivery and ease of use of analytical products to empower self-service insights
Providing project support including comprehensive analysis and consultative business and financial-based insights to support strategic or tactical decision making
Producing, maintaining and enhancing the financial and operational recurring reporting and accounting that supports decision making
Developing and supporting corporate operating cost plans and report structures
Continuous learning and growth of professional skills in finance/accounting, analytical methods and technology
Training and mentoring others
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Analytics, Information Technology, Statistics or another analytical discipline or equivalent with at least 3 years relevant finance, accounting and/or analytical experience in an office environment or
Associate’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Analytics, Information Technology, Statistics or another analytical discipline or equivalent with at least 5 years finance, accounting and/or analytical experience in an office environment or
High School Diploma or equivalent with at least 7 years relevant finance, accounting and/or analytical experience in an office environment
Willingness to be flexible and adapt quickly and efficiently to change
Must be self-motivated, requiring little direction in day-to-day activities
Proven strong ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects, including organizational skills, attention to detail, and adherence to deadlines while ensuring accuracy
Demonstrated use of good analytical techniques (including statistics & quantitative methods), and problem-solving skills
Knowledge of Accounting and/or Finance (solid knowledge of accounting principles and exceptional math skills)
Knowledge of Extract, Transform and Load (ETL) and visual communication tools such as MicroStrategy Developer, Alteryx, Power Query, or similar ETL tool and Power BI, Tableau or similar data visualization tool, respectively
Proven ability to inspect, cleanse, transform and model data from various sources
Proven strong ability to interpret, analyze and explain financial information including forecasting, financial data and financial statements
Ability to verify the accuracy and completeness of detailed information and check own work for accuracy or computational errors
Proven ability to quickly identify and correct logical flaws and/or shortcomings, as well as improve the overall accuracy of analyses
Ability and willingness to generate unique solutions and ideas to address problems and improve work efficiencies
Good interpersonal, teamwork and collaboration skills including the ability to communicate effectively with various levels of Publix associates, as well as effective listening skills
Intermediate or higher level of proficiency in Microsoft Office Excel, Word and PowerPoint
Basic or higher level of proficiency in Microsoft Office Access
Preferred Qualifications
Masters’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Analytics, Information Technology, Statistics or another analytical discipline with 4 years relevant finance, accounting and/or analytical experience in an office environment
Certified Public Accountant, Certified Management Accountant, MS Certified Power BI Data Analyst, certified Alteryx Designer, or other certifications specific to the position
Knowledge of other Publix Business Units, including their basic roles and responsibilities
Deep knowledge of the RBUs, including their strategic long-term business needs and operational decision processes
Knowledge of the Publix retail store environment and operations
Advanced knowledge of Publix systems/data sources SAP, EDW, Host, PIMs, Marwood, FINDSS, DB2, Store Acctg, Oasis, EDW Supplemental data, Nielsen, etc.) and the interrelationships of those systems
Knowledge of APT Test & Learn, Market Basket Analyzer, and Benchmarker
Basic knowledge of Nielsen IQ
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office applications

Year End Bonus
