LHRG is assisting Highland Presbyterian Church (PCUSA), a 700-member congregation located in the thriving community of Lancaster, Pennsylvania, is looking for a Director of Music to be a creative and dynamic leader with a vision to continue our musical excellence and presence in the community. The successful candidate will be someone who finds joy working in a church setting, providing spiritual nurture through musical preparation and leadership in worship.


Oversight of all the church's ensembles is the Music Director's responsibility and can be accomplished either by directly working with each group or through close administrative and/ or musical support to volunteer leaders. The position is considered part-time and flexibility regarding days off and time spent in the office per week is possible. The church has an Organist on staff; however, the ideal applicant should be comfortable with service performance in the organist's absence.


Our 40-member Chancel Choir sings most weeks for our Traditional Service and is supported by an Adult Bell Choir, a Contemporary band, and local professionals hired as needed. 


Our Traditional Service begins at 10:00 a.m., often preceded by a short contemporary service called Ignite. During the school year the Chancel Choir rehearses on a weekday evening (currently Wednesdays from 6:30 -8:00 PM) and briefly on Sunday morning before traditional worship. In the summer, the Choir sings during the Communion Services, rehearsing just before the service. Typically, the Choir has also sung Advent and Lenten Cantatas during worship and an annual concert. In addition to these obligations, a weekly Worship planning meeting and weekly Staff meeting are an expectation of this position.
