Job Summary
The

Senior Director of Dining Services

(Sr. DDS) at

St. Margaret’s Episcopal School

provides strategic and operational leadership for the school’s comprehensive dining program, including

multiple daily meal services and a full-service catering operation.

This role ensures an exceptional, safe, and nurturing foodservice experience for students, faculty, staff, families, and guests.
Serving as the primary point of contact for school leadership on all dining-related matters, the Sr. DDS leads on-site teams to deliver high-quality, mission-aligned dining experiences across academic-day meals, special programs, events, and campus catering. The position is responsible for overall planning, direction, and execution of dining and catering operations, balancing operational excellence, financial stewardship, regulatory compliance, and strong relationship management in a dynamic school environment.

Key Responsibilities
•Provide leadership, coaching, and inspiration to dining services and catering team members, fostering a positive, inclusive, and service-oriented culture
•Oversee

multiple meal services

across the school day, including breakfast, lunch, snacks, and special programs, ensuring consistency in quality, nutrition, and service
•Direct and manage a

full-service catering program

supporting school events, meetings, celebrations, and community functions
•Serve as the primary liaison between Dining Services and St. Margaret’s school administration, maintaining strong, collaborative relationships
•Plan, direct, and oversee daily dining and catering operations to meet the needs of students, faculty, staff, and guests
•Support and collaborate with functional partners including nutrition, culinary, safety, and marketing to enhance both the dining and catering experience
•Ensure compliance with all local, state, federal, and USDA regulations applicable to school meal programs, including accurate and timely reporting
•Conduct regular audits and reviews to ensure adherence to food safety, sanitation, storage, and company standards
•Manage financial performance for dining and catering operations, including budgeting, forecasting, cost controls, and financial reporting accuracy
•Evaluate operational decisions with consideration for short- and long-term impact, risk management, and stakeholder input
•Champion professional development within the dining and catering teams, including training, performance evaluations, and succession planning
•Promote transparency, accountability, and clear communication throughout the operation
•Represent Dining Services and serve as a positive brand ambassador at school functions, catered events, and community activities
•Ensure consistent and fair application of all policies and procedures

Long Description
Preferred Qualifications
•Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of three (3) years of management experience, preferably in K–12 foodservice, hospitality, or a related support services field
•Demonstrated success managing

both high-volume meal service and catering operations,

ideally within an independent or private school setting
•Strong business and financial acumen with experience managing budgets, catering revenue, and operational performance
•Proven ability to lead teams, build relationships, and deliver exceptional customer service
•Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage students, faculty, administrators, families, and event stakeholders
•Strong organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills in a fast-paced environment
•Commitment to inclusion, professionalism, resilience, and continuous improvement
•Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and point-of-sale (POS) systems
