largest

most technologically advanced Court
of Limited Jurisdiction in the State of Washington. It currently processes approximately 300,000 matters per year with 25 elected judges and roughly 260 employees at 8 courthouse locations. The Court is a leader in many areas involving public safety and access to justice, including the use of
problem-solving courts ,
jail-alternative programs , technology- and judge-managed
probation services . Thirteen cities contract with King County for court services provided by
KCDC .
A Competitive District Court Clerk Candidate
King County District Court is seeking
Court Clerks
who are
active learners, adaptive, reliable, and action-oriented
to establish a competitive pool of candidates for current and future,
temporary
Court Clerk positions throughout King County District Court.
Court clerks face a variety of populations,
(in person, telephonically, virtually, and electronically)
with a variety of needs and questions when they make contact with the court. Clerks must establish a level of service that meets the needs of the public's request while also working within the parameters of
legal boundaries , maintaining a
positive rapport
as much as possible when serving the public at large.
Clerks are faced with a variety of
competing priorities
on a daily basis; learning how to best meet shifting timelines and
communicating with supervisors
along the way is expected and highly desired in a successful court clerk.
Job Duties
Utilize

Associate degree
from an accredited institution
Minimum of
two (2) years' experience

US Citizenship is required. A contingent offer is based upon the results of criminal background investigation and fingerprinting.
Selection process:

Work Location:
Various Courthouses that are located in Seattle, Shoreline, Redmond, Bellevue, Issaquah, Burien, MRJC(Kent), and Auburn.
Work schedule
:
Regular, working a 40-hour workweek. Responsibilities occasionally may require additional working hours in order to meet deadlines. After hours, on-call support is required.
Physical Demands
: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, talk or hear, and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and move and/or lift up to 10 pounds. The vision abilities required to perform this position include close vision.
Working Conditions
:
Work is typically performed in an office environment with a moderate amount of noise (computers, printers, light traffic). This role routinely uses standard office equipment.
