Position Details:
Patient Population: Neonatal
Setting: Hospital-based NICU coverage at two facilities
Responsibilities:
* Provide neonatal care at Carilion Clinic Children s Hospital (60-bed regional perinatal center) and Lewis Gale Medical Center (6-bed Level II NICU)
* Serve as NICU Medical Director or Associate Medical Director with oversight of clinical and operational performance
* Manage advanced neonatal therapies including high-frequency ventilation, whole body cooling, and nitric oxide
* Collaborate with pediatric subspecialists, maternal-fetal medicine, and pediatric surgery teams
* Participate in education and mentoring of medical students and residents
* Engage in quality improvement and research initiatives
* Provide day coverage with on-call and weekend responsibilities
Required Procedures: Advanced NICU and critical care neonatal management
EMR System: Not specified
Support Staff:
* 10 Neonatologists
* 5 Neonatal Nurse Practitioners
* Multidisciplinary pediatric subspecialty support
Days Per Month: Full-time
On-Call/Weekends: Required
Submission Requirements:
* Board Eligible (within 5 years) or Board Certified in Neonatology
* Active Virginia license or willingness to obtain
* DEA prior to start
* NPDB Self Query within 30 days
* Clean malpractice/license history preferred
* Must reside locally or willing to relocate
* J1 visa support available (J1 only)
* Neonatal leadership experience required for Medical Director role
