My client, a leading AI cloud infrastructure provider, is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer to support the delivery of large-scale HPC and GPU-based data centre projects.
Operating across renewable-rich regions in North America, the business designs, builds, and operates high-performance computing infrastructure powered by 100% renewable energy. This role offers the opportunity to work at the forefront of sustainable data centre innovation.
The Role
Reporting to the VP of Engineering, this individual will act as the owner’s representative across the full project lifecycle, focusing on medium and low voltage electrical distribution systems within mission-critical environments.
Key Responsibilities
• Act as the owner’s representative across HPC/data centre projects
• Develop functional descriptions and conceptual electrical designs
• Oversee progression from concept through to detailed engineering (internally or via external partners)
• Review and validate engineering deliverables (drawings, calculations, reports, cable schedules)
• Manage design queries, technical issues, and field instructions across projects
• Support specification, sizing, and selection of electrical equipment
• Lead equipment validation, installation, and commissioning activities
• Ensure effective coordination with construction and manufacturing teams
• Stay up to date with data centre power distribution trends and regulatory changes
Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
• Professional Engineer (P.E.) licence (US)
• 8+ years’ experience in electrical design (data centres, industrial, or manufacturing environments)
• Strong knowledge of electrical standards and engineering best practices
• Experience designing electrical distribution systems (load lists, SLDs, cable schedules, layouts)
• Expertise across key equipment:
– Grounding systems
– Power transformers
– Standby generators
– Switchgear
– Cables, motors, VFDs
• Experience specifying and sizing electrical equipment
• Familiarity with tools such as AutoCAD Electrical, Revit MEP, ETAP, SKM, CYME, EasyPower, EPLAN, or SolidWorks
• Experience within Tier III or mission-critical data centres is highly desirable
• Strong communication and collaboration skills
