
Senior Associate (Chicago)

We are looking for an Associate of Due Diligence to support the evaluation and ongoing oversight of external fund managers across a variety of alternative investment strategies. This role is responsible for conducting detailed reviews of manager operations, controls, and infrastructure, contributing independent analysis and insights to inform investment decisions. The Associate will also assist with diligence related to co-investments and direct investment opportunities as they arise.
This position requires strong analytical skills, excellent written communication, and the ability to collaborate effectively across investment, operations, legal, and compliance teams.
Key Responsibilities
Participate in the assessment of new and existing fund managers by performing independent operational and business risk analysis as part of initial and ongoing monitoring reviews
Conduct operational due diligence on co-investments and direct investment opportunities, as needed
Prepare thorough documentation of diligence discussions, findings, and conclusions, including materials for Investment Committee review
Develop written evaluations that assess the quality, robustness, and effectiveness of fund managers’ operational infrastructure, including controls, valuation methodologies, and pricing processes
Review and analyze key documents such as offering materials, due diligence questionnaires, audited financial statements, regulatory filings (e.g., Form ADV), and internal policies and procedures
Partner with internal stakeholders including Investment Due Diligence, Legal/Compliance, Operations, and Accounting teams to support comprehensive manager reviews
Stay informed on regulatory developments, operational best practices, and industry trends impacting alternative investment managers
Assist with special projects and other initiatives
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline preferred
3+ years of relevant professional experience, including public accounting (fund audit or financial services clients) and/or industry experience evaluating investment managers
Excellent written communication skills, with the ability to clearly document findings and articulate recommendations
Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple workstreams simultaneously
Proven ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment
Preferred Skills & Credentials
Familiarity with alternative investment strategies such as hedge funds, private equity, real estate, interval funds, and tender offer funds
Working knowledge of financial instruments including equities, fixed income, derivatives, structured products, and real assets
CPA or CFA designation (or progress toward certification) is a plus
