
Journeyman Agriculture Mechanic Technician

*Job Summary:*
We are seeking skilled Journeyman Agriculture Mechanic Technicians to join our Lund, Nevada and Richfield, Utah store teams.
The ideal candidate will diagnose, repair, and maintain agricultural equipment and small-to-medium power machinery to ensure safe, reliable operation for customers.
This is a hands-on, customer-facing role that requires strong mechanical knowledge, troubleshooting ability, and excellent communication.
*Key Responsibilities:*
Diagnose electrical, hydraulic, fuel, engine, transmission, PTO, steering, brake, and implement systems on tractors, combines, sprayers, balers, loaders, and other ag equipment. Perform routine maintenance: oil changes, filter replacement, fluid checks, greasing, belt and hose replacements.
Disassemble/reassemble components, perform welding and fabrication as required, and adjust/align implements.
Use diagnostic tools, multimeters, scopes, hydraulic gauges, and service manuals effectively. Install, calibrate, and test sensors, control modules, and electronic systems (CANbus, ECM updates). Read and interpret schematics, electronic diagrams, technical bulletins, and parts manuals.
Accurately document repairs, parts used, time, and service recommendations in shop management system.
Advise customers on repairs, preventative maintenance, and parts recommendations in clear professional language.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe shop environment; adhere to safety procedures and PPE requirements.
Assist with parts identification and ordering when necessary; collaborate with parts/sales staff to support customer needs.
Occasionally perform roadside or farm-call service; travel between stores as required.
*Required Qualifications:*
Journeyman-level certification, completed apprenticeship, or equivalent experience in agricultural equipment mechanics (typically 3–5+ years). Demonstrated experience working on tractors and farm implements; diesel engine and hydraulic system expertise required. Strong mechanical troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
Proficient with common shop tools, diagnostic equipment, and hand/ power tools.
Valid driver’s license: CDL preferred or willingness to obtain if needed.
Ability to lift 50+ lbs., work in varying weather conditions, climb ladders/steps, and stand for extended periods.
Excellent customer service skills; ability to explain technical issues to non-technical customers. Basic computer skills for work order entry, parts lookup, and electronic diagnostic updates.
*Preferred Qualifications:*
Manufacturer-specific training or certifications (e.g., John Deere, CNH, AGCO). Welding (MIG/TIG/Stick) and fabrication experience.
Experience with electronic control systems, GPS/auto-steer calibration, and precision ag equipment. Previous retail or farm store service center experience.
Working Conditions & Physical Demands Fast-paced shop environment with exposure to grease, oil, dust, noise, and outdoor weather. Frequent lifting, bending, stooping, and working under equipment.
Standard shop hours with occasional weekend or after-hours calls and overtime during peak seasons.
