McQuillan & Hohman Law, LLC dba Alaska Immigration Law Center, anchorage, ak, United States
*ATTORNEY OPPORTUNITY*
*McQuillan & Hohman Law / Alaska Immigration Law Center*
Anchorage, Alaska | Full-Time | In Person | Partnership Track
For attorneys with 1+ years of experience - including those transitioning from other practice areas
*Build a serious legal career without giving up your actual life.*
McQuillan & Hohman Law / Alaska Immigration Law Center is looking for an attorney already in practice who wants something more than the usual next move. We are a fun, energetic, team-focused law firm in Anchorage, Alaska, and we are growing intentionally through planned expansion. That means meaningful work now, real opportunities ahead, and room to build something lasting with us.
We primarily practice in immigration, probate, and estate planning. If your current experience is in another area, that is not a barrier. We are prepared to teach our practice areas to the right attorney. We care more about judgment, work ethic, client service, and the ability to grow than about whether your first years in practice were spent in the exact same field.
This role is designed for a lawyer who wants mentorship, autonomy, and momentum. You will join a firm that values high-quality work, strong relationships, professional development, and a genuine work-life balance. For the right candidate, this is a long-term opportunity with partnership-track potential and the possibility of revenue sharing as your role grows.
*Compensation*
· Base salary: $100,000 - $150,000 (or higher depending on year in practice)
· $10,000 salary increase for Spanish fluency
· Regular bonuses
· Revenue sharing is possible
*Benefits + Support*
· Unlimited PTO
· Retirement with dollar-for-dollar match up to the federal limit
· Paid training, CLEs, bar dues, and bar exam support when needed
· Relocation assistance
*What Makes This Role Different*
· You do not need prior experience in immigration, probate, or estate planning. We will train the right attorney in our practice areas.
· You will join a growing law firm in a planned expansion phase, with room to increase your responsibility as the firm grows.
· We are intentional about creating a fun, energetic, team-oriented culture where people want to come to work and enjoy working together.
· This is a true long-term opportunity. The role is partnership track, and revenue sharing may be available as your practice and leadership grow.
· We believe in building excellent lawyers without demanding that work consume their entire identity.
*What You Will Do*
· Handle legal research, writing, drafting, and client communication across firm matters
· Manage and support cases with increasing independence as you grow into the role
· Work directly with clients and help guide them through important life and legal transitions
· Collaborate with attorneys and staff on strategy, case development, and problem solving
· Build skill and confidence in immigration, probate, and estate planning, even if those are new to you today
· Contribute to a growing firm that values initiative, good judgment, and long-term commitment
*Qualifications Required*
· J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school
· Licensed attorney with 1 or more years of experience in practice in any field
· Alaska bar admission, or the ability to obtain Alaska bar admission within 6 months of accepting the position
· Strong writing, research, communication, and client-facing skills
· Professionalism, sound judgment, and a willingness to learn new areas of law
· Interest in building a long-term career with a growing Alaska firm
*Preferred but not required*
· Experience, coursework, clinics, or interest in immigration, probate, or estate planning
· Spanish fluency
· A desire to help build systems, relationships, and long-term value inside a growing practice
*Why Attorneys in Practice Make This Move*
Many practicing attorneys reach a point where they want more responsibility, better mentorship, a healthier culture, or simply a more interesting life. This role is designed for that attorney.
If you are looking for a place where your experience is respected, where you can learn a new practice area without being boxed in by your past, and where your growth can translate into leadership, partnership-track advancement, and possible revenue sharing, this is that opportunity.
And if you are ready for a change beyond the office, Anchorage offers something rare: serious legal work in a place where you can still get out into the mountains, on the water, or under the northern lights and remember there is more to life than billing your way through another year.
*Compensation and Benefits*
· Base salary: $100,000 - $150,000 (or higher depending on years in practice)
· $10,000 increase for Spanish fluency
· Regular bonuses
· Revenue sharing is possible
· Unlimited PTO
· Retirement plan with dollar-for-dollar employer match up to the federal limit
· Paid training
· Paid CLEs when needed
· Bar dues paid by the firm
· Bar exam assistance
· Relocation assistance
*Life in Alaska*
This is a chance to build a strong legal career in a place that still feels alive, adventurous, and wide open. Anchorage offers access to trails, mountains, water, skiing, fishing, wildlife, and the kind of everyday scenery that reminds you to look up from your desk.
We are proud to be Alaska-forward. We want attorneys who care about doing excellent work, but who also want a real life outside the office. We believe that balance makes better lawyers and better teams.
