Job Description:
We are seeking a dedicated Part-Time Optometrist to join a mission-driven outpatient clinic in Sacramento, CA. This is a flexible opportunity ideal for professionals passionate about delivering high-quality eye care to underserved and diverse patient populations.
Roles & Responsibilities:
* Conduct comprehensive eye examinations, including visual acuity, focus, coordination, and perception assessments
* Diagnose and manage ocular diseases and vision disorders
* Perform diagnostic procedures such as refraction, visual field testing, pupil and motility exams, slit lamp exams, ophthalmoscopy, gonioscopy, and tear function testing
* Provide treatment plans and therapeutic interventions to preserve or improve vision
* Educate patients on eye health, contact lens care, and preventive practices
* Maintain accurate documentation using EHR systems
* Support and train clinic staff on vision screening procedures
* Follow infection control protocols and clinic safety standards
Qualifications:
* Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree from an accredited institution
* Active and unrestricted California Optometry license
* Glaucoma certification (preferred)
* Current BLS certification
* 1-2+ years of clinical experience, preferably in community health or underserved settings
* Strong knowledge of ocular disease management and diagnostic equipment
* Proficiency with EHR systems
Language Skills (Preferred):
* Bilingual or multilingual abilities (Spanish, Russian, Farsi, Pashto/Pushto)
* Excellent communication skills to serve diverse patient populations
