Summary:

The Emergency Communications Operator supports the Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) emergency response program by monitoring alarm systems, receiving emergency notifications, and dispatching internal response personnel. This position serves as the central coordination point for emergency communications during alarms, incidents, and emergency events within the manufacturing facility. The role requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to remain calm and organized during emergency situations.

Responsibilities:

Monitor facility fire alarm systems, gas detection systems, and other safety monitoring systems.

Receive and evaluate emergency alarms, calls, and notifications.

Dispatch internal emergency response personnel in accordance with established procedures.

Notify municipal emergency services when required by established protocols.

Maintain communication with responding personnel and on-site emergency response teams via radio or other communication systems.

Support coordination of emergency response activities as directed by EHS leadership or the Incident Commander.

Support emergency announcements and notification procedures when required.

Coordinate with plant security, operations, and EHS personnel during incident response.

Accurately document alarms, incidents, and response activities.

Maintain dispatch logs, alarm records, and incident documentation.

Track response times and assist with preparation of internal reports.

Maintain records related to fire system impairments and fire watch activities.

Assist the EHS team with emergency preparedness activities.Participate in emergency response drills and exercises.

Support coordination of internal fire brigade or emergency response teams.

This position supports essential manufacturing operations and may require working day or night shifts, weekends, holidays, overtime, and reporting to work during emergency situations, inclement weather events, or other operational disruptions when it is safe to do so.

Comply with all health, safety, environmental, and fire safety regulations

Follow established emergency communication protocols and elevate incidents to appropriate personnel according to company procedures.

Maintain cleanliness at work-site in accordance with5S3R Standards
Sort, Set in order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain

Qualifications:

High School Diploma or GED required

Prior experience in security operations, emergency dispatch, industrial safety, or similar operational environments preferred

This position supports continuous manufacturing operations. Employees are expected to demonstrate consistent attendance, punctuality, and reliability to ensure safe and efficient production operations.

Team members must be able to work scheduled shifts, overtime as required, and maintain dependable attendance in accordance with company attendance policies.

CPR / First Aid preferred

HazMat Awareness preferred

ICS-100 (Incident Command System) preferred

Experience:

Experience working in a manufacturing, industrial, security, or emergency operations environment preferred

Experience using radio communications, alarm monitoring systems, or dispatch systems preferred

Demonstrated reliable work history and consistent attendance in prior employment.

Skills:

Strong verbal communication and radio communication skills

Ability to remain calm and organized during emergency situations

Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy

Ability to monitor multiple systems and respond quickly to alarms

Basic computer proficiency for documentation and reporting

Ability to maintain focus and attention to detail while monitoring multiple alarm and communication systems in a continuous production environment.

Physical Requirements:
Must be able to properly and regularly utilize the following PPE for a period of up to12 hours:

Safety glasses

Ear protection

Must be able to perform the following activities repeatedly for periods of up to12 hours:

Lift, push, and pull materials or equipment

Stoop, twist, and bend

Sit and/or stand for extended periods

Use hands and fingers to operate tools, equipment, and computer systems

Work may involve handling or working in proximity to hazardous materials and regulated industrial chemicals.

Exposure to chemical vapors, dust, or other controlled substances may occur depending on process assignment.

Strict adherence to company safety policies and OSHA Hazard Communication requirements is mandatory.

Employees must properly wear and maintain assigned personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times within designated areas.

Required PPE may include respirators, chemical-resistant garments, gloves, eye protection, face shields, or other equipment determined by process and risk assessment.
