TBM Design Release Engineer

Job Description
Design and Release Engineer is responsible for software development and software validation testing of the Telematics module and will manage the progress of software development at a global level across all brands through all development phases. The engineer will have direct responsibility for the quality, performance, and release activities of the component.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the design and development to meet program timing, quality and compliance
Create a detailed component development plan and manage software release planning and report outs for all vehicle programs to ensure milestones are met on time.
Work with cross functional teams to ensure packaging and component interface requirements are achieved.
Plan and execute software/feature development (as required) with Tier 1/Internal SW teams for requirement clarification, change request response, planning, execution, software readiness reports, SW release planning, diagnostic definition and approval, GIMs closure planning, and delivery for PWB with CVVR.
Serve as key interface with supplier/internal SW delivery teams for requirements, cost, release and issue management.
Ensure that all suppliers have the required information and resources to carry out their tasks effectively.
Manage supplier hardware and software releases as per the vehicle timeline, implement quality improvements, analyze issues, lead supplier engagement, visit customer vehicles to investigate issues, and drive closure of open issues and validate software fixes.
Maintain the vehicle software repository and validate management for the respective component.
Perform initial triage of system‑level issues based on CAN logs and support root‑cause activities during development and manufacturing.
Participate in war rooms and discussions on GIMS analysis, status and closure for the component with all stakeholders.
Track status of yellow/fixed GIMS with validation/test teams for the component.
Interface with SWAT teams for plant issues and create component SCRs as required to minimize plant impact.
Test/Test‑drive vehicles for component functionality as required.
Mandatory Skills
System integration experience, understanding of vehicle system engineering & ECU development, and releasing experience.
Familiarity with Ethernet, LIN, CAN/CAN‑FD protocols & system troubleshooting.
Strong leadership skills (prepared to lead a supplier team) with experience managing suppliers and/or engineers.
High level of problem‑solving and analytical skills.
Software issue management – open issues list management and dispositioning.
Software issue triage – first‑level triage to determine appropriate issue owner.
Ability to lead software management meetings.
Ability to communicate status of issues from triage to issue closure.
Work directly with client software team and supplier software teams.
Ability to create PowerPoint slides to communicate issue status.
