About the Role
The School of Public Health (SPH) Communication Strategist is responsible for developing and managing messaging and content to promote Augusta University’s School of Public Health. The position reports to AU Communications & Marketing and to SPH leadership.

Location
Augusta University – Health Sciences Campus: 1120 15th Street, Augusta, GA 30912; Summerville Campus: 2500 Walton Way, Augusta, GA 30904.

Responsibilities

Manage the daily administration of the Communications office, including editorial and digital planning and project oversight.

Serve as liaison between SPH leadership and AU Communications & Marketing; conduct routine reviews and updates of website content.

Maintain social media activities in collaboration with AU Communications & Marketing.

Curate editorial content to promote SPH initiatives; produce annual SPH magazine and pitch news, features, and multimedia stories.

Oversee SPH website content, ensuring it is useful, fresh, and up‑to‑date.

Utilize DCM tools (e.g., Poppulo, Emma, Marigold) for electronic distribution and maintain proficiency with mandated communication tools.

Manage internal communications platforms (SharePoint, Teams) and the monthly internal e‑newsletter.

Consult on communications or marketing requests from SPH faculty, staff, and students; capture/draft and produce content for diverse outlets.

Coordinate photography and videography for print and electronic communication; maintain a growing library of digital content.

Translate and communicate university‑level marketing strategies to SPH stakeholders.

Support the implementation of SPH internal and external communications and brand marketing plans; collect, analyze, and report data on impact.

Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in a related field.

Minimum of three (3) years of communication and marketing experience.

Knowledge of standard office equipment; excellent communication, organizational, and prioritization skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, or related field.

Experience with media software, social media platforms, camera, radio, and print media.

Prioritization, time‑management, and social media discretion; supervisory experience for indirect staff support.

Ability to maintain confidentiality, professionalism, independent judgment, and work under pressure.

Shift/Salary/Benefits
Shift: Days, Monday‑Friday (some outside normal business hours may be required for exempt positions).

Pay Band: B10 | Salary: $52,500 – $65,600 annually (commensurate with qualifications).

Benefits: Health, dental, and life insurance; Teachers Retirement System (or Optional Retirement Plan); earned vacation, sick leave, and 13 paid holidays; tuition assistance for eligible employees.

Conditions of Employment

Background check review required before employment.

Credit check may be required for positions of trust or purchase‑card usage.

Motor‑vehicle reports required for positions that involve driving uber university vehicles.
