Airport Technical Systems Analyst I (Communications Equipment Rooms)
Job Description
Under the direct supervision of the IT Support Manager or assigned support administrator, assists in the installation, operation and maintenance of the Airport’s communications infrastructure, including fiber and copper cabling and associated equipment, ensuring all work complies with established installation standards.

Under the guidance of experienced technical staff, you’ll assist in the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of specialized systems that keep airport operations running smoothly and securely. You’ll also contribute to preventative maintenance programs, system updates, and equipment installations – gaining valuable experience in real‑world applications of electronic and IT systems.
Position Hourly Range
$24.12 – $32.89/hr based on qualifications and experience.

Key Responsibilities
Maintaining communications rooms throughout the campus, including cleaning, and documenting cable moves‑adds and changes for our cable management software.
Assists in pulling, terminating and testing network cabling and fiber optics, and in connectivity and patching of various IT systems.
Assists in the installation, testing, implementation and operation of Airport IT systems, and provides technical assistance, consultation and training to end users as needed.
Provides input for development and implementation of preventive maintenance schedules for assigned IT systems, and performs preventive maintenance services for various IT systems.
Maintains associated records and inventories of IT equipment.
Assists in the documentation of network infrastructure for the airport’s cable management software.
Performs other related duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications
Graduation from High School or equivalent. Three years’ related experience or education in an electronics field. Experience should include the operation of a computerized process control, communications, security system or similar systems. Education and experience may be substituted for one for the other on a year‑for‑year basis.
Completion of at least one section within Category 1 of the technical systems group career path requirements for the division or has the technical capabilities to perform such services based on education and/or experience.
Ability to read, interpret and update flowcharts, circuit diagrams, blueprints and equipment operation and maintenance manuals.
Ability to interact effectively with supervisors, co‑workers, Airport tenants and the general public.
Possession of a valid driver’s license or Utah driving privilege card.
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge in keeping computer equipment rooms clean: anti‑static flooring, equipment racks, cable trays, etc.
Understanding of the importance of computer equipment rooms, physical security, and adherence to strict procedures to protect these spaces.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Willingness to take responsibility for and ownership of a clean, organized communications room.
A quick learner with the desire to learn additional skills within the airport IT environment.
Ability to walk long distances, climb small ladders, push carts, and haul equipment.
Competence in utilizing electronic tools to fill in reports including cabling documentation.
Strong communication, organizational, and people skills. Ability to express ideas and concepts to all levels of understanding in verbal communication and written format.
Other duties as assigned.
Working Conditions
Moderate physical activity. Required to push, pull or lift medium to heavy weights (30 to 75 lbs).
Exposure to hazards associated with confined spaces, high voltages, heat, cold, noise and other elements of an airport environment.
Uncomfortable working positions such as stooping, crouching and bending.
Career Path
After demonstrating the ability to successfully carry out the variety of diverse projects and responsibilities assigned at this level and meeting the minimum requirements of a Technical Systems Analyst II, incumbents may be promoted to a Technical Systems Analyst II. Promotion through a career ladder is contingent upon supervisor’s recommendation, department head approval and availability of funds.
