Position Level: Level 2 – Expert
Salary: Up to $225,000.00 per year
Core Hours: 9am to 4pm
Location: Herndon, VA
The network engineer will work in a team environment supporting the customer and numerous mission partners in building, designing, and deploying networks. Responsibilities include configuring routers, switches, firewalls, and other networking equipment throughout the lifecycle, primarily Cisco gear, with occasional Juniper and encryptor support. The engineer will troubleshoot issues during implementation.
The engineer reviews all incoming requirements for feasibility on existing network infrastructure, using ITSM PM tools such as ServiceNow to manage project tasks, deliverables, and timelines, and to ensure engineering lifecycle and review board compliance. Collaboration with optical teams ensures smooth circuit transitions.
The selected candidate uses network management applications to answer questions about current deployments, analyzes utilization to assess impact on user experience, and works with workflow applications, ServiceNow, network analyzers, and performance tools such as NetIM.

We are seeking highly skilled Network Engineers with 11+ years of experience in related fields and a Bachelor’s Degree. Advanced degrees can substitute for years of experience: 4+ Years with a Master’s degree or 3+ Years with a PhD.
Qualifications
CCNA or equivalent experience
Cisco
Working knowledge of the OSI model layers 1 through 3
Understanding of 802.1q VLAN tagging
Understanding of the different media types, including RJ‑45, MMF, and SMF
