Position Summary
The position is an integral part of the Switch Product Team. Person will be directly involved in the design, development, and qualification of customized electro‑mechanical switches for aerospace, industrial, and military applications. Activities may include research, design, analysis, testing, documentation, and direct support to manufacturing. ITT offers many types of switches for different customer applications, including gauge, differential, and absolute pressure switches and temperature sensing switches.
Responsibilities
Provide mechanical engineering support for assigned projects
Perform project tasks in collaboration with engineering leadership, business development, quality, program management, and production support functions throughout the product development process
Develop customer‑focused design updates based on existing products
Generate test procedures and test reports
Produce and update Parts Lists
Support prototyping and development testing of new products
Engineering review of product compliance to customer requirements for operational performance, material applicability, and environmental constraints
Solve technical problems in the lab or in the factory as needed
Support process and manufacturing improvements
Participate in technical reviews
Qualifications
Education: BS in Mechanical Engineering, Aeronautical/Aerospace Engineering, or comparable, with 2+ years’ experience in engineering design and development environment preferred
Design experience with electro‑mechanical devices
Strong problem‑solving skills; able to work with others to solve problems and manage priorities
Test plans, test procedures, conducting development and qualification testing
Familiarity with RTCA/DO‑160 and/or MIL‑STD‑810 environmental testing standards
Familiarity with common document types and material specifications for aerospace or defense desired
Understanding of geometric tolerancing and ANSI Y14.5 standard
Experience with simulation and analysis (preferred Ansys, NASTRAN) useful
Computer Skills: Microsoft Office applications (Word, Access, Excel, and Power Point); PTC Windchill
CAD Drafting and modeling experience useful (e.g., Creo, SolidWorks, and/or Catia)
Must have excellent oral and written communication skills
