A growing technology services firm in the Rochester area is seeking a Network Engineer to join their team. This role focuses on designing, implementing, and supporting network infrastructure across multiple client environments. The ideal candidate enjoys troubleshooting complex networking issues, deploying modern infrastructure solutions, and working directly with customers to improve the reliability and security of their systems.
This is a hands-on position that provides exposure to a wide range of networking technologies, cloud environments, and enterprise infrastructure.
Responsibilities Design, install, configure, and support network infrastructure including firewalls, switches, and access points
Troubleshoot networking issues and resolve escalated support tickets
Support server and identity infrastructure including Active Directory and Entra ID
Implement and maintain core network services such as DNS, DHCP, routing, and VLANs
Deploy and troubleshoot cloud networking solutions in Microsoft Azure
Work with virtualization platforms such as VMware and Hyper-V
Document network configurations, procedures, and architecture diagrams
Travel to client sites for installations, troubleshooting, and remediation when required
Collaborate with senior engineers on architecture and best-practice solutions
Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field or equivalent hands-on experience
2+ years of networking or infrastructure experience
Experience supporting enterprise networking environments
Technical Experience Networking fundamentals including IP addressing, subnetting, VLANs, routing, DNS, and DHCP
Experience with networking hardware such as Cisco, HP, SonicWall, Palo Alto, or Ubiquiti
Windows Server environments including Active Directory, Microsoft 365, and PowerShell
Virtualization platforms such as VMware or Hyper-V
Experience with Azure infrastructure, VPN gateways, and cloud networking is a plus
Knowledge of endpoint security or EDR platforms is beneficial
Preferred Certifications CompTIA Network+ or Security+
Microsoft AZ-104 or AZ-700
Palo Alto PCNSA or PCNSE
Additional Requirements Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to customers and internal teams
Organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple projects
Willingness to travel to customer sites across the Northeastern U.S. when needed
