Position Overview
The Customs Entry Writer will be responsible for preparing and processing import documentation in compliance with all applicable customs regulations. This role requires a strong understanding of tariff classifications, customs procedures, and regulatory requirements to ensure timely and accurate clearance of shipments.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare and submit customs entries for import shipments in accordance with HMRC regulations
Review commercial invoices, packing lists, and other shipping documents for accuracy and completeness
Classify goods using the appropriate tariff codes and ensure correct duty and VAT calculations
Communicate with clients, carriers, and customs authorities to resolve discrepancies or delays
Monitor shipment progress and provide updates to internal teams and customers
Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and company policies
Maintain accurate records and documentation for audit purposes
Requirements
Proven experience in customs entry writing or a similar role within freight forwarding or logistics
Strong knowledge of UK customs regulations and import procedures
Familiarity with tariff classification and customs software systems
Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working with CDS (Customs Declaration Service)
Knowledge of international trade compliance and Incoterms
Relevant certifications in customs or logistics (desirable but not required)
