Overview
USAN, an Atlanta‑based company with nationwide operations, is seeking a Network Engineer to join our Operations team. This role is responsible for the design, implementation, and ongoing management of enterprise network infrastructure. The Network Engineer will troubleshoot connectivity issues across routers, switches, firewalls, Internet circuits, VPN, DMVPN, and private MPLS connections.
USAN’s network environment is built primarily on Cisco technologies. Candidates should understand internal network segmentation, least‑privileged access, and modern network security design principles. Proficiency in designing, deploying, and troubleshooting access control rules on Cisco firewalls is essential.
Professional Experience
3 to 5 years of experience designing, implementing, and troubleshooting Cisco‑based networks, firewalls, switches, and routers
Networking and Technical Expertise
Experience designing, deploying, and troubleshooting routed and switched corporate networks using Cisco routers and Layer‑2/Layer‑3 switches
Strong proficiency with Cisco ASA and Cisco Firepower security platforms
Familiarity with routing protocols including BGP, EIGRP, OSPF, DMVPN, and RIP
Hands‑on experience with AWS networking services such as VPC, Security Groups, routing, and VPN
Experience configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting Network Access Control (NAC) systems such as Cisco ISE or FortiNAC
Proficiency with Linux and Microsoft Windows operating systems
Strong working knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite
Experience with Change Management and ITIL practices
Ability to document network architecture, procedures, and engineering standards
Experience using diagramming tools such as Visio, Lucidchart, or similar
Technical Responsibilities
Design, configure, test, and troubleshoot USAN’s routers, switches, and firewalls
Produce network diagrams, IP engineering documentation, and related technical materials
Program and troubleshoot Layer‑2 and Layer‑3 switching hardware
Program and troubleshoot Cisco routing equipment
Design, deploy, and troubleshoot firewall connectivity including access control rules, VPN, DMVPN, MPLS, and wireless technologies
Participate in and follow established change management procedures
Provide third‑level support for all network and firewall‑related issues
Perform additional duties as assigned by department leadership
Organizational Requirements
Works effectively in a collaborative engineering environment
Maintains professionalism during customer‑impacting events
Dependable during normal business hours as well as scheduled and emergency maintenance windows
Able to manage multiple priorities and meet goals set by Lead Engineers and Management
Educational Background
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related engineering or technical discipline
