Overview
A well-established developmental disabilities program in Queens is seeking an experienced

Director of Nursing (RN)

to lead clinical operations across multiple OPWDD-certified residences and a family care program. This leadership role oversees nursing services for up to

96 persons supported

and supervises a team of

5 nurses . The Director ensures full regulatory compliance, quality assurance, staff education, and high standards of clinical care across all sites.

Key Responsibilities
Provide clinical leadership and supervision to nursing staff across 8 OPWDD residences and family care settings
Ensure programs are survey-ready and fully compliant with OPWDD, DOH, and CMS regulations
Conduct routine medical record audits, medication cart reviews, and quality assurance checks
Lead nurse training, mentoring, and monthly/quarterly education sessions
Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, leadership, families, and providers to improve care outcomes
Identify regulatory risks and implement corrective action plans
Oversee systems for infection control, falls, pressure injuries, admissions/discharges, and weight management
Participate in surveys, complaint investigations, and performance improvement initiatives
Provide hands-on assessments and clinical oversight across all residences
Support hiring, supervision, and performance evaluation of nursing staff
Maintain strong documentation and reporting practices per OPWDD guidelines
Travel between program sites to conduct reviews and provide support

Qualifications
Active

New York RN license
BSN required

| Master’s preferred
Strong experience in

OPWDD-certified homes, community residences, or long-term care
Supervisory/leadership experience required
Knowledge of OPWDD, DOH, CMS compliance standards
Valid driver’s license and ability to travel between sites
Excellent organizational, audit, and documentation skills
Ability to be on-call as needed
