
Programmatic Facility Coordinator Research Technologist (Research Technologist 1

Overview The Technologist will oversee programmatic facility operations within the RC45 Clean Chemistry and Mass Spectrometry facility, a >10,000 sq. ft. class 100/10,000 clean facility housing chemistry and mass spectrometry laboratories. Responsibilities include ensuring the facility operates optimally and coordinating preventative/corrective maintenance and programmatic facility modifications/upgrades with the appropriate LANL organizations.
What You Will Do Oversee programmatic facility operations within the RC45 Clean Chemistry and Mass Spectrometry facility.
Coordinate preventative/corrective maintenance and programmatic facility modifications/upgrades with appropriate LANL organizations.
Develop requirements for programmatic system maintenance (UPS, generator, water treatment, etc.).
Coordinate external vendor support and facility construction/upgrades in other facilities as needed (e.g., 48/1, 48/8, 48/28, 48/107, 3/2322).
Work with the Clean Chemistry Team Leader and First Line Managers to set priorities and schedules for facility work, and coordinate with tenants to minimize disruption.
Provide mechanical support to operational programs when appropriate and follow safety and security procedures.
Responsibilities by Level Research Technologist 1 ($87,800 - $143,000) — responsibilities above; includes coordinating maintenance requirements and construction/upgrades; work related to nuclear security missions and safeguarding sensitive/classified information; may require extended hours; role may be filled at RT1 or RT2 depending on skills.
Research Technologist 2 ($96,600 - $158,000) — manages initiation, planning, execution, and completion of all programmatic facility projects with minimal consultative direction.
What You Need Minimum Job Requirements:
Experience with and knowledge of facility infrastructure and systems
Experience interfacing with project management and maintenance organizations/providers
Experience developing programmatic requirements documents for facility systems
Experience coordinating facility maintenance efforts with building tenants
Experience supporting programmatic mechanical efforts
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Ability to obtain a Q clearance, which normally requires US citizenship
Additional Job Requirements for Research Technologist 2:
Ability to work independently with initiative
Ability to provide day-to-day technical support while maintaining progress on long-term tasks
Education/Experience at lower level: Position requires a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution and 2 years related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation.
Education/Experience at higher level: Position requires a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution and 5 years related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation.
Desired Qualifications:
Experience overseeing clean-room facilities
Familiarity with uninterrupted power supply systems and generators
Work Location & Status Work Location: Onsite, Los Alamos, NM. All work locations are at the discretion of management.
Position Commitment: Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position to be eligible for posted jobs laboratory-wide. The commitment for this position is 1 year.
