Job Summary
The Network Engineer III supports the implementation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of enterprise network infrastructure for the program. This role ensures reliable connectivity across LAN/WAN environments and collaborates with senior engineers on network design and optimization. The position requires strong networking fundamentals and a hands‑on approach to supporting production environments.
Summary of Essential Job Functions
Support implementation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of enterprise network infrastructure
Configure and maintain routers, switches, and firewalls across multi‑vendor environments (e.g., Cisco, Juniper)
Monitor network performance and availability; identify and resolve connectivity, latency, and packet loss issues
Implement and support VLANs, routing protocols (OSPF, BGP), and basic network security controls
Troubleshoot LAN/WAN network incidents; perform root cause analysis and document resolutions
Collaborate with cross‑functional teams on network changes, upgrades, and infrastructure projects
Travel to remote locations to lead network installations and perform independent troubleshooting
Provide status updates to program personnel
Support activities outside standard business hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed
Perform additional tasks as required by the program
Required Skills and Experience
CCNA or JNCIA certification
Hands‑on experience with network design, development, and testing methodologies
Understanding of OSI Model and TCP/IP
Experience with routing protocols such as BGP and OSPF
Network traffic analysis, diagnostics, and troubleshooting skills
Firewall experience (Juniper, Fortinet, Palo Alto)
Experience with UDP multicast, SONET, MSPP, VLANs, GRE tunnels, and TCP/IP network designs
Experience with multi‑vendor routing and switching (Cisco, Juniper), WAN optimization, TACLANEs, and optical transport equipment
Strong communication skills, including writing and presentation using Microsoft Office tools (PowerPoint, Visio)
Preferred Qualifications
CCNP or JNCIP Certification
NSX, vSAN, and Aria experience with network automation using Ansible
Understand standard DoD security practices such as STIG compliance and system accreditation implementation efforts
Education
Bachelor’s degree with 3+ years of experience or Master’s degree with 1+ year of experience.

$105,000 to $125,000
Physical Demands
Remain in a stationary position for extended periods of time
Operate a computer, keyboard, and other office equipment using hands and fingers
Communicate effectively in person, over the phone, and through electronic means
Occasionally move about the office to access files, office equipment, and meeting spaces
Lift and/or move up to 15 pounds as needed
Maintain specific vision abilities, including close vision and the ability to adjust focus
