
Survey Project Manager (N-2026-03)

Arora and Associates, PC is seeking a Survey Project Manager to join our Land Surveying Department in New York City, NY. Applicant must be a responsible, motivated, detail-oriented individual with strong leadership skills and work ethic to work in a team environment.
DUTIES
Plan, coordinate, and manage survey operations
for infrastructure projects involving bridges, highways, and transportation corridors in NY and NJ
Oversee field crews
performing data acquisition using:
GNSS-RTN
for control and positioning
Conventional total stations
for precise measurements
Mobile LiDAR
for roadway corridor and asset mapping
Terrestrial laser scanners
for detailed bridge and structure scans
Coordinate with clients, engineers, and internal teams
to define survey scopes, deliverables, schedules, and technical requirements
Develop and review project-specific survey methodologies
that comply with NYSDOT, NJDOT, and local standards and specifications
Ensure accuracy, consistency, and completeness
of collected data by implementing field QA/QC processes and reviewing preliminary data
Establish and verify survey control networks , ensuring proper integration with state plane or project-specific coordinate systems
Create and manage project budgets, schedules, and resources , ensuring efficient deployment of personnel and equipment
Support data processing workflows , including point cloud registration, surface generation, and deliverable preparation
Prepare technical documentation , such as field reports, control summaries, and survey memos for design teams and clients
Maintain communication with regulatory agencies , municipalities, and clients regarding access, safety, and compliance requirements
Monitor and enforce field safety procedures , including adherence to MOT (Maintenance of Traffic) plans and site-specific safety protocols
Mentor and train field and office staff
in advanced survey techniques and technology best practices
Manage project deliverables
such as:
Control network reports
3D point clouds
Topographic base maps
Stay current on industry technology and standards , including advancements in LiDAR, GNSS, and DOT specifications
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
5-10 years of progressive surveying experience in the transportation sector including field work
Proficiency with MicroStation or AutoCAD, MSWord, and Excel
Proficiency with surveying software such as Trimble Business Center and Leica Infinity
Familiarity with surveying and CADD standards of NJ, NY region transportation agencies
Strong written and verbal communication skills
A valid driver's license and clean driving record.
Able to work overtime as required
Ability to obtain security clearance (SWAC, TWIC, etc.)
REFERRED ATTRIBUTES AND VALUED SKILLS
Professional Survey License in NY, NJ, or PA preferred but not required.
BS in Surveying, Surveying Engineering Technology or equivalent
Experience in:
Right of Way Surveys and documents
GIS Data Acquisition and Management
Geodetic Survey/Use of GPS equipment
Familiarity with large point cloud data and data extraction
Hydrographic Surveys
Project Planning and Scoping
COMPENSATION
$55-$65/hr
