OBJECTIVE OF THE POSITION
The Architectural Design Associate will work as an integral part of the in-house Architectural Design Team and support the Furniture Design Team as needed. The candidate should be a team player with strong design sensibility and excellent communication skills. In addition, the candidate should be thorough, detail-oriented, and have the ability to oversee multiple short and long-term tasks to completion.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist in all phases of design projects, construction through opening and beyond
Partner with teams with any elements of physical environments of existing locations, including but not limited to facilities and maintenance
Manage business vendors related to buildings, facilities, appliances, finishes, installations, repairs, maintenance, etc
Manage RFP's and present options to the team, help ensure timely follow up takes place
Track all scheduling with vendors and maintain calendar
Assist in obtaining proper budgetary approvals for any projects involving external vendors
Assist the team in communications and follow up with consultants and vendors
Assist in developing and maintaining SketchUp models, used as a tool in the design development process
Drafting of architectural drawings and details
Maintain materials and samples library and obtain new samples for new materials research
Contribute to daily administration tasks of various projects such as organizing and creating new project files, downloading, uploading, and/or sending files, maintaining printed drawing sets for office use, plotting and printing drawings
REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE
EDUCATION
Enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate Architecture or Interior Architecture/Design program
SPECIAL SKILLS
Proficient in AutoCAD, SketchUp, and Adobe Creative Suite
V-Ray experience is a plus
WORK EXPERIENCE
0 - 2 years of relevant work experience, preferably working in all phases of design
Retail experience is a plus
COMPETENCIES REQUIRED
Strong aesthetic sensibility and versatile design skills
Strong production, technical and research skills
General knowledge of construction
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
Familiarity with architectural and interior details
Ability to prioritize in order to meet deadlines
Ability to be a self-starter and proactive
PAY TRANSPARENCY
The salary for this position is $28.00 hourly.
