It is engaged in the construction and sale of high‑quality homes designed principally for the entry‑level and first‑time move‑up markets. The company also provides mortgage financing and title services for homebuyers through its subsidiaries. D.R. Horton, Inc. is currently looking for a Design Coordinator. The right candidate will coordinate and oversee the interior and exterior color scheme selection and design of model and inventory homes, and assist homebuyers in selecting packages for their new home.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Correlate all interior and exterior color section components
Coordinate new model home merchandising & design
Oversee model home and sales center installation and maintenance
Input interior & exterior color selection data for all upcoming inventory home starts in DHI Sales
Assist homebuyers with designated selection packages
Explain, demonstrate, and calculate pricing for homebuyer consideration on upgrade optional items, achieving maximum upgrade selection within the parameters of the homebuyer's financial capacity
Arrange and manage color selection components in DHI Sales; communicate and work with sales when substitutions must be made
Coordinate with sales to input specs into DHI sales for new communities
Create and maintain relationships with vendors and suppliers relevant to home color selection components and option upgrades
Assist in finding suitable replacements, within budget, when products are discontinued or delayed
Generate accurate documentation of all selections
Maintain pristine condition of current model homes; make changes and updates as necessary
Stay on top of current design trends and present potential changes when necessary
Conduct all business in a professional and ethical manner to serve customers and increase the goodwill and profit of the company
Ability to work overtime
Qualifications
High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
One to three years of related experience and/or training
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Strong interpersonal skills
Provide attention to detail and manage multiple responsibilities
Ability to interface with other departments to ensure constant communication regarding timing, design elements and access time availability
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form or via DRH applications
Proficiency with MS Office and email
Ability to stand and walk for 4 hours straight or up to a full 8‑hour day; sit for extended periods; kneel and bend at the waist; climb, balance and stoop, crouch or crawl; walk up and down stairs; walk on uneven terrain; use hands and fingers to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. Ability to lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance, color vision and peripheral vision
Occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions
The noise level is generally moderate
Preferred Qualifications
Associate’s degree or equivalent from a two‑year college or technical school considered a plus
JDE knowledge and experience helpful
Ability to work well within a team
Bilingual communication skills considered a plus
