Temporary Custodian (Pool)
Emergency Hire - Temporary position lasting at most 90 days with an option of being extended to 180 days.
Position Summary
Under the direction of the Lead Custodian and the general supervision of area manager(s) the incumbent performs cleaning maintenance assignments in various University buildings and external spaces.

Three work schedules are available and will be assigned by management at the time of hire.
Sunday, 1:00 PM – 9:30 PM; Monday–Thursday, 4:00 PM – 12:30 AM
Tuesday–Friday, 4:00 PM – 12:30 AM; Saturday, 1:00 PM – 9:30 PM
Monday–Friday, 4:00 PM – 12:30 AM
Department Information
Facilities Management is the steward for the University buildings, physical infrastructure, grounds, and landscape. We perform maintenance and renovation of facilities; plan and manage new construction; support University initiatives though our commitment to building a welcoming campus which covers over 50 buildings on 616 acres; and by creating a dynamic physical environment for students, faculty, staff, and the community. Ability to read and write at a level appropriate to the duties of the position; follow verbal and written instructions to ensure safety; operate and care for custodial equipment and supplies applicable to the position; use custodial systems such as those used to track work orders and two-way radios for communication; observe safety requirements and safe work practices and methods as required; perform work involving regular physical activity; and establish and maintain cooperative work relationships. Some positions may require ability to move up to 50 pounds.
License
Some positions may require possession of a valid California driver’s license
Required Qualifications
Knowledge/Abilities
Knowledge of common custodial procedures and methods
Knowledge of safe cleaning practices
Ability to provide excellent customer service
Good interpersonal skills to maintain effective working relationships
Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a diverse environment
Commitment to maintaining a welcoming and inclusive work environment with diverse colleagues and constituents including faculty, students, staff, and members of the community.
Work Schedule Requirements
Ability to work irregular work shifts, including weekends and holidays
Physical Requirements
Ability to occasionally move (lift/carry) up to 50 pounds of equipment/supplies in a safe manner.
License Requirements
Possession of a valid California driver’s license and maintenance of a good driving record.
Conditions of Employment
Ability to complete the background check process.
Preferred Qualifications
Related janitorial/custodial experience working in a higher education, school district, or other institutional environment.
Required Licenses/Certifications
Valid California Driver's License and maintenance of safe driving record required.
