Job Summary
We are seeking a Level 2 Design Engineer with strong experience in chassis component design and CAD modeling. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing, analyzing, and optimizing automotive components while collaborating with cross-functional teams and suppliers. This role requires the ability to manage multiple projects, make technical decisions with moderate supervision, and deliver high-quality engineering solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Design and develop chassis components including wheels, brakes, fuel systems, exhaust systems, and related parts
Collaborate with design, test engineers, and suppliers to analyze and resolve technical issues
Interpret CAE results (e.g., stiffness, natural frequency) and apply findings to design improvements
Create and maintain robust CAD models using CATIA V6 (solid and surface modeling)
Develop engineering drawings with proper GD&T standards
Ensure designs meet manufacturability, quality, and performance requirements
Evaluate supplier proposals and support sourcing activities
Prepare and present technical reports, research findings, and test results
Manage multiple projects and ensure timely delivery aligned with development schedules
Continuously learn and apply new standards, tools, and methodologies
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Automotive, or related field)
Experience in chassis component design
Proficiency in CATIA V6
Strong skills in both solid and surface modeling
Knowledge of GD&T and engineering drawing standards
Understanding of Design for Manufacturability (DFM)
Ability to interpret basic CAE analysis results
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical writing skills
Ability to work independently and in a team environment
Valid driver’s license (eligible to drive in Ohio)
Preferred Qualifications
Prior experience in automotive chassis systems
Experience working with suppliers and cross-functional teams
Familiarity with industry standards and automotive development processes
