The AWS Data Center Global Services team is looking for an exceptional individual to contribute to the Controls & Technology organization by joining the Controls Design Engineering team (CDE). The CDE primary responsibility is to track, document, communicate and enhance global data center design standards with a focus on control, automation and electrical power monitoring systems.
The ideal candidate will have a wide-ranging background in data center environmental controls systems, IT infrastructure, networking, mechanical facility operations, electrical power monitoring, project management and strong leadership skills.
Key Responsibilities Knowledge of EPMS programming and design, Modbus communication protocol, electrical distribution systems, single‑line diagrams, complex electrical concepts, and data center redundancy.
Review MEP drawings with a focus on electrical drawing sets for EPMS design content.
Create EPMS scopes of work (SOW), provide RFI support, and review technical vendor proposals during bid review process.
Coordinate with each regional project manager to review and finalize project SOWs.
Review electrical Long Lead Equipment (LLE) submittals to ensure EPMS scope is captured.
Attend Factory Witness Tests (FWTs) and Equipment Qualification Tests (EQTs) to perform EPMS point validation and test EPMS device functionality on first‑of‑kind electrical equipment.
Create, update, and maintain controls points list and specifications, EPMS drawing templates, Basis of Design (BOD) documentation, and project specific SOW documents.
Develop and disseminate specification documents for global projects.
Lead and facilitate collaboration with multiple teams including construction, programmers, MEP/ACS engineers, and team managers to accomplish initiative goals.
Manage and prioritize requests for information on new construction builds, existing site facilities support, and legacy site enhancement projects.
Serve as central point of contact for multiple internal and external groups regarding EPMS design standards.
Operate successfully in high‑security critical environments while maximizing productivity.
Drive innovation of new solutions to support initiatives, team, and company goals.
Interact with AWS cloud services and other applications to present, archive and analyze accumulated data.
Anticipate roadblocks and risks while providing escalation management.
Travel globally as needed to manage and support project initiatives.
Basic Qualifications 5+ years of relevant work in a data center or other critical environment experience.
3+ years in utilizing or generating electrical drawings and design engineering documents focused on data center or critical environment projects.
3+ years in designing or contributing to the design of Controls and Monitoring solution projects.
1+ year project management experience focused on data center or critical environments projects, demonstrating large‑scale coordinated efforts with multiple project stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or related engineering degrees and 5+ years of related experience in professional environments.
Experience with the use and programming of electrical power monitoring systems (EPMS).
Experience working with Modbus communication protocol.
Knowledge of electrical single‑line diagrams, electrical distribution systems, complex electrical concepts, and data center redundancy.
Knowledge of Data Center Facilities Infrastructure and operation (PDU, UPS, Generators, etc.).
