At Midwest Industries, we design and manufacture ShoreStation boat lifts and dock systems, and ShoreLand’r boat trailers. These products help people make the most of their time on the water. We’re passionate about creating practical, innovative solutions for boaters and waterfront property owners.

The Role
We’re looking for a Design Engineer to join our product development team. In this position, you’ll take ideas from the drawing board all the way to the shoreline. You’ll work with hydraulic systems, fabricated sheet metal, aluminum extrusions, molded plastics, 3D printers, DC‑powered electrical systems, and more to design new products and refine existing ones. The role combines concept generation, CAD design, prototyping, hands‑on installation, and field testing.

What You’ll Do

Design and develop products that solve problems in the marine and trailer industries.

Create and communicate designs using CAD software.

Work with production to fabricate and assemble prototypes.

Plan and perform structural and performance testing, both in‑shop and on the water.

Iterate quickly on feedback to refine and finalize designs.

Maintain organized product data in PDM systems (e.g., Windchill, Pro‑Intralink).

Improve and update existing designs when opportunities arise.

Apply programming or coding skills to enhance our in‑house online configuration tools.

What We’re Looking For

Education: BS in Mechanical Engineering preferred. Associate degree or equivalent experience considered.

Technical Skills:

CAD proficiency is required.

Mechanical aptitude, with knowledge of materials, hydraulics, linkages, fasteners, and structural design.

Familiarity with product data management tools.

Background:

Experience in marine construction or waterfront service industries is a major consideration.

Hands‑on mechanical, fabrication, or general construction experience is a strong plus.

Programming or coding experience is also valued.
