Position Summary
The Elementary Art Teacher provides high-quality arts instruction to students in grades K–4 through a collaborative, push-in instructional model alongside classroom teachers. The art teacher designs and delivers engaging, standards-aligned lessons consistent with Minnesota Academic Standards in the Arts, fostering creativity, critical thinking, and artistic expression while supporting diverse learning needs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Design and implement standards-aligned visual arts lessons consistent with Minnesota Academic Standards in the Arts.
Provide art instruction in collaboration with classroom teachers to integrate visual arts with core academic content.
Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of students, including those requiring accommodations and modifications as outlined in IEPs, 504 Plans, or other support plans.
Create a positive, inclusive, and culturally responsive classroom environment that encourages artistic exploration and risk-taking.
Manage materials, supplies, and equipment to ensure safe and organized learning environments.
Collaborate with special education staff, interventionists, and classroom teachers to support student success.
Communicate effectively with families regarding student progress and learning goals.
Participate in professional learning and contribute to school improvement efforts.
Qualifications
Required:
Current Minnesota teaching license for Art Education.
Demonstrated experience teaching multiple elementary grade levels.
Proven track record in lesson design and standards-based instruction.
Experience differentiating instruction to support students with varied academic, behavioral, and social-emotional needs.
Preferred:
Minnesota Visual Arts teaching license.
Experience with co-teaching or collaborative instructional models.
Knowledge of inclusive practices and Universal Design for Learning (UDL).
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Strong understanding of child development and elementary instructional practices.
Ability to collaborate effectively within a team-based teaching model.
Skill in adapting curriculum to meet diverse learner needs.
Strong classroom management and organizational skills.
