Responsibilities
Encourage critical thinking and iterative concept development within class assignments, teaching courses in contemporary issues in photography, studio lighting, and photographic media.
Participate in 1‑2 faculty meetings each semester and provide assessment data and information to the department.
Demonstrate awareness of and address the needs of a diverse student population through inclusive course materials, teaching strategies, and advisement.
Organize all classes within the Canvas Learning Management System (LMS).
Ensure all classes meet as scheduled throughout the entire semester or term, in the mode assigned and listed in the schedule of classes (asynchronous, synchronous, bicronous, in‑person, or hybrid).
Qualifications
Required
Master of Fine Arts degree in Photography.
Clear demonstration of artistic achievement, evidenced by a current record of significant exhibitions that include photo‑based media.
Teaching experience at the university level.
Impressive portfolio of creative photo‑based work.
Strong writing skills and an ability to direct and assess student writing within the context of a studio class.
Experience and expert level proficiency in both digital and darkroom photographic practices, including contemporary equipment, materials and chemistry, Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom, and familiarity with Epson printers and software.
For studio lighting courses, relevant teaching experience and knowledge of lighting equipment with a digital workflow.
Demonstrate awareness of and sensitivity to the educational goals of a multicultural population.
Preferred
Teaching experience at the university level with at least two years of photographic teaching.
Compensation
Compensation is based on qualifications and experience. See University Policy S21‑2 for salary range information. Anticipated monthly salary rates (full‑time levels): L‑A $5,507‑$5,959; L‑B $6,221‑$7,481; L‑C $6,825‑$9,431; L‑D $8,593‑$10,347.
