Individual Health and Medicare Account Manager (Hybrid)

Summary of the Role
The Individual Health Account Manager is responsible for working with NFP individual clients and the other NFP Account Managers. The position requires day‑to‑day client servicing and sales of new and existing clients and entails a great deal of verbal, electronic and other written communication. The Account Manager will place new policies, manage renewals and marketing processes, and prepare materials for presentations and communications in collaboration with more senior team members. Work is completed with significant independent discretion, and the person will develop relationships with clients and carrier contacts, working proactively to deliver services efficiently.

In addition to managing their own clients, the Account Manager may support the Account Management Team as assigned. Individual Health Sales is extremely busy in the fourth quarter due to the enrollment season each year, so the role requires willingness and ability to work additional hours (overtime) to meet demand.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Proactively develop relationships with carriers and client contacts; may take an active role in meetings.

Prepare and send proposals to clients from multiple software programs.

Take the lead with clients and carriers to sell and service policies, including status and verification.

Create and maintain client files in accordance with office procedures; may be responsible for keeping client policy records in the agency management system.

First line of answering billing questions from clients and insurance company personnel, with assistance from Accounting when necessary.

Maintain a current Health and Life Insurance License.

Certify and recertify with ACA markets (Federal or State) as well as with individual carriers and Medicare (AHIP).

Highly organized with excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Self‑confident to make sound independent decisions.

Ability to successfully interact with a variety of people and function well both in a team environment and autonomously.

Handle situations in a calm, courteous and professional manner.

Customer focused to establish and maintain effective relationships.

Intermediate level of experience in Microsoft Office products, specifically Word, Excel and Outlook as well as Windows.

Prioritize multiple tasks to meet deadlines.

Read, analyze and reconcile financial reports.

Possess strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.

Sharp attention to detail, decision‑making skills, and problem resolution.

Flexibility and adaptability to changing priorities, deadlines, technology, and products.

Education and/or Experience

Associate's degree (or equivalent), or BA/BS preferred but not required.

More than 2 years of client service and/or industry and product line experience.

Certificates, Licenses, Registration

Life and Health Insurance License required or committed to obtain within 90 days of hire.

Must certify and recertify with ACA markets (Federal or State) as well as with individual carriers and Medicare (AHIP).

The base salary range for this position is $50,000 to $70,000, determined by experience, credentials, education, certifications, skill level required for the position, scope of the position, and geographic location. Actual base salary offered will be determined on a case‑by‑case basis. In addition to the base salary, this position may be eligible for performance‑based incentives.
